What other fun jobs are available for auditors w/my experience besides PA and working in an accounting department for a private company? Busy season number 8 is looming and I’m thinking of jumping ship right after it.

Busy season #8 would make you a SM1? Why are you leaving now? (You are so close to partner)

I feel most roles available to you will be related to SEC reporting, internal audit and technical accounting policy

likefunny

Partners love saying that, but take a look at recent partner promotes in your group and see how long they were at M, SM, and MD (if your firm has this)

Why do you want to jump ship right AFTER busy season. All of us are trying to exit before that 😂

You could try forensics or FBI.

FBI?! Yeah this the FBI!

$50 Million Dollas? Man who you think you kidnap Chelsea Clinton

After 8 years you still don't know what your possible exits are?! Just think what your colleagues left to do. Those are your best options

I was hoping there would be an exit out there that I haven’t heard of. something more exciting than the typical exits others have mentioned on this post. Internal audit, being a controller… I’m so beat up that even those options don’t even sound fun! Anyone talk to a recruiter and learn of something outside the box that their years of audit experience would qualify them for, is more what I’m getting at?

Investor relations? Treasury?

Treasury can actually be pretty interesting. Or at least not as dull as it sounds at first glance. For multinational companies, you have FX planning and hedging; for others, you have commercial paper, short term investments, etc.

Tangential to treasury is structured finance (aka supply chain finance), which more and more companies are utilizing.

Treasury is on the custody side, so you’re not doing as much accounting due to segregation of duties, which may or may not be desirable for you.

Follow up post to my last post…My husband was laid off from the company where I also work. I am feeling really isolated / depressed about working and moving forward. I’m also getting to a stage where I’m really sad that people haven’t reached out to either my husband or myself to send well wishes or provide support. It’s like they don’t know what to say or I make them feel awkward so they don’t bother…I’m trying to focus on a few that have been supportive but it’s hard…Any words of advice? 😞

Hi tax 🐠,

I have a question for those who prep individual tax returns. My parents claim my grandfather as a dependent on their tax return and due to their low income, receive PTC for the premiums they pay on his insurance (not eligible for medicare). However, would it be advantageous to have him file for his own tax return (he stays with my parents and doesn't have his own proof of residency via bills). If so, can he get PTC if his income is 0?
