What other jobs would require a similar generalist skillset besides project management or product management? I come from a development background who moved into UX space and project management and now playing a product manager hat in my current company, wanting to change jobs but worried my experience may only land me an junior product manager role which results in a $20k pay cut.
Just wanting to explore options and curious in general what other tech roles can a generalist apply for?

Hey , it's a little off topic. But do you mind sharing how you switch from development to product management role? I am thinking something on the similar lines.

I was working in a team that had UX consulting so I learnt UX there and then did a certificate of digital design to get into a more visual development role, then gotten into more team leads and project management roles.
The current place I work at is a startup and not super structured, so I transitioned from a project manager role to more of a product role just by observing how the company needs shifted and put my hand up/strategically placed myself into product management related work and eventually transitioned into a product manager.

UX design is not too far from Product Mgt. As a UX designer, you center on personas, their goals and pain points. This is a core component in designing products including definition of current and future state. Learn about product roadmapping, prioritization and agile/scrum. I don’t think you’ll get a pay cut. Your UX design skill is an asset in PM bc sometimes other companies or projects don’t have a dedicated UX designer.
FYI: I was a former product manager.

While you’re still in your job, shift your mindset and pretend you’re the PM for your project. Observe and learn. Do you think you can do what the PM is doing? I hope the answer is yes given your experience and the Courses you’ve done. You need not check all the boxes when you’re starting a new role. That applies to any role. You already have the foundation. Feel confident. Confidence and the attitude that “you can” is what will set you apart from an associate. And always seek feedback from your team esp developers/architect.

I joined Accenture 5 months back as a lateral hire ( Level 11 ) and have been a part of a project since day one.

I am not enjoying my work here, no motivation at all. Dreaded to report to work and having stress and anxiety. My manager is trying to micromanage me as productivity is on the lower side.

Another thing is, I have started to dislike my current tech and no more interested in it.
What are my options here ?
Is project release possible ?
or I have to put down papers ?

Anyone else stuck in a job because they don't want to lose maternity benefits?

I'm actively looking to have children. Medical advice tells me not to put it off at all, it's now or potentially never.

I have been approached about new jobs, have found jobs that are perfect but they don't offer anything above the statutory mat payments unless you have been there for a year or two at least. As the main breadwinner stat payments would be devastating for us.

Anyone else stuck?

WWYD: you're a somewhat green executive and a SME in your industry. You report to a senior exec who has no experience in your line of business and so hired you 3 yrs ago so they could fully delegate. While you mesh really well personally, you struggle to get your boss engaged with your teams work. They arent bad, per se, you've had worse.. but they don't communicate well and seem to avoid conversations on strategy and decision making.

What tactics do you use to get your boss better engaged?

Just a rant. Tired of being told I’m shallow for wanting to be fairly compensated for my work. Men freely talk about $$

I’ve recently come across a few roles titled Design Technologist. Is there anyone here that has advice on entering into these types of roles and interview tips?

A previous employer reached out and offered me a Senior Product Designer role with a 40% increase base salary. I am considering this, as I have been feeling under utilized at my current role + dealing with of uncertainty lately. But I would be forfeiting a lot of RSUs if I leave. I am in the middle of my vesting period (2/4 yrs), and this year alone would have 256 shares vesting (~$500 share price). The new role will come with shares, but at a small share price. Anyone had similar experience?
