What would you say is your ethnicity if your parents are from the Middle East and you were born in the US?
Just had my first phone screen with a Google recruiter. I feel like I answered most questions pretty well but I think my GCA response was weak. Will the recruiter still pass my resume along to the HM if my GCA wasn’t as strong?
Have got two offers. One from tcs and another from product based company. Both are offering the same 19L as fixed. I have accepted both the offers. I still have 1.5 months of notice period left. I have decided to join the prod based company. Wanted to know how to do a counter? And when is the right time to ask them? How much can i ask them to increase?

Took my first pill of Vyvanse 20 mg this morning. Recently diagnosed. Never been on ADHD meds. What should I expect in terms of effects? Took the pill at 7 am. Its 11 am now. Dont feel anything different. Had a cup of coffee too. Any tips would be much appreciated. What should I watch out for? Trouble sleeping, racing heart, mood changes?
What about positive effects? Do you start seeing effects (increased focus) right away or it takes time?
So I've heard from a bunch of people that working as a Product Designer at a FAANG company isn't as glamourous as people make it out to be.
Is there any truth to this? Or is it just bitter people who didn't get hired?
I've heard the work life balance is tough, and that people usually leave after less than 1.5 years because the churn is crazy.
Is it worth going for FAANG companies or nah?
I am so tired of being treated like an assistant and I’m at a loss on how to correct it. My coworkers are generally nice, but while I watch white (usually male) associates at my level or even more junior get substantive work, I’m still receiving administrative tasks as a mid-level. Appreciate any advice.
Feeling some major imposter syndrome as I job hunt and compare myself to other people my same age. I feel like most of my friends/colleagues that started out in the industry at the same time as me...

Best way to utilize recruiter spam? I’m an associate at a V30 firm and receive around 5 emails a day from different recruiters. I may want to move to another major city in a year or so. Should I tell the recruiters this? How do you vet “good” ones when there are so many?

At T14 schools, does being on a journal count for academic credit? If so, how many credits per semester do you get? And do you actually have a “class” or is it all just research you can do remotely?
For the last four weeks or so of WFH I’ve been making it to my desk around 7:30/8am and working basically without a break—lunch at desk- but cannot maintain momentum past like 6:30/7:30pm. Most of the day is billable work, but I cannot bring myself to finish outstanding assignments after 8pm, but then feel so guilty when I’m not working past that time. Am I burnout or fucked up? (Also I hate this gig & am not in it for the long haul, just hate not turning things quickly)
I feel like this has been asked before but I can’t find it. If you were recruited out of law school (US) for an international office of a big law firm, were you offered US pay?

Started biglaw without using a monitor, as I’m still not settled in an apartment. I’ve made a ton of mistakes during closing, and feel very bad about my speed and errors since I think a monitor would have helped. But was this a huge mistake, does anyone else work off of their laptop sometimes ?

I made a really dumb mistake that made me look stupid in front of my entire team on a case. Partner didn’t name me, but everyone knew I was working on that area, so they know I made the mistake. Should I separately email the partner to apologize and ask how I can help fix?
What is your approach to handling requests from a partner who is very busy and vague? Follow-up questions are sometimes ignored. Do you ask again? Give the assignment your best shot using resources? Any other tips? The lack of guidance on requests for deliverables is stressing me out.
UK associate here. Do you get your trainee a christmas gift?! I’ve only had trainees since covid so this will be my first christmas with a trainee where we’re not working remotely. I feel like it would be weird but what do people think? And what if he gets me one?
If you’re succeeding on all the right metrics (i.e., leadership loves you, clients love you, you’re participating on pitches, you’ve brought in clients, and you’re set up to inherit a book of business), but you’re still not super into it, being promoted to income partner won’t change things, right? Worth sticking out to see or jumping to go in house at a pre-IPO, late stage startup you find super exciting and interesting?
