I like the money.
Before this I was a lowly payroll clerk, making 45k, and my middle-aged manager who had been with the company 8 yrs was making the same as my now first year analyst salary. In industry it seemed like a slow ladder to climb to reach her level.
And then at the director level, (1 above her), which I thought was when you “made it” was actually just a typical consultant salary.
Had I stayed there I would have spent 4 more years in hopes of just breaking 70k and being considered for “supervisor.”
Consulting is like Democracy. It sucks, but is better than alternatives.
