I’d like a 20 hour workweek 🥰
Coach
I took at 10 percent pay cut in base salary and my average hours went from 55 to 35 a week.
Some days I consider taking a 100% paycut to work 0 hours a week

40 a week is standard (in the US and certainly in Western Europe)
Never negotiate with yourself.
You get a salary to do a job. Unless the contract specifies hours I don't think you have a leg to stand on in many countries. Same reason the contracts don't specify overtime pay rates. Its all bundled in.
I moved from big four to boutique for a 40 hr work week and pay raise. Unicorns exist.
Fantasy Land mate - hence the unicorn

I struggle to find 20 hours of work a week. Y’all need to find better teams/jobs.
It’s trash below. See a bit above😀😀
None. Am in consulting to learn quickly and the hours are a forcing function to my otherwise lazy ass haha.
50% increase. I work less than that already
I just accepted an offer in industry and will be taking 10% pay cut on base, no bonus either.
I’m very excited about working 35-40 hours a week!
Left consulting for tech with a 70% raise and a 40 hour week.
Where???
25% decrease, but went to a startup with lots of equity. Working 30-60 depending on whether I feel like pushing or not that week. The freedom and ownership is UNPARALLELED AND I’M NEVER LOOKING BACK! 🥳🤩😎
Sorry for the delay. PL2
I just took a gov job for the same base. No remote working options though.
Yes, I was able to leverage my current salary for a higher step. I know not all groups will do that though.

40% increase over MBB! Working 80hrs per week and making a TON of impact is a privilege!
Why decrease? There is always a way to get more

Probably the difference in pay between you and I.
I mean, I’d like to actually be able to work only 40 hours a week...
Something folks underestimate a lot is time. In consulting or front office finance you WASTE so much time for someone else without the due financial return. I see the value early on in your career, but long term I find that folks are wasting their potential unless they really love it and don’t have better alternatives. When I switched into high tech, it unlocked so much time that I was able to put my money to use in stocks, real estate, etc, so long term the impact on my net worth / lifestyle is ten fold compared to what consulting or finance could give me monetary wise. I should be able to leave corporate jobs by 35, sustain on my other passive streams and venture out into the real adventure (work / project) that interests me no matter the outcome. That is freedom in my mind. All these jobs are jobs at the end of the day, and have capped income stream. It’s a risk averse white collar delusion to think that these jobs will give you true freedom / happiness long term, but of course different folks have different goals / perception of life so to each their own.
