We’ll be laying off people. We can’t tell you when. can’t tell you how many people. We can’t give you any details. But we WILL send you an email after this call with FAQs and the severance policy.

...no email was sent. So, now 1,000 employees are going to bed tonight confused and irritated AF.

Just got laid off :(. I am in Health IT advisory. Would anyone help out with a referral to you awesome firm?

A friend was told their firm will cut ties EOY if certain things don’t improve. Friend had planned to quit in the next year anyway (to start their own business), so there is no real incentive to bend over backwards. Friend’s goal is to keep the income for a little longer, but to minimize conflict / headaches. What’s the best move here? Wait until EOY and take the severance? Give 6 / 9 / 12 months’ notice now? Is there such a thing as too much notice? Could too much notice backfire?

On Monday, after just five months in my role, I was laid off from my job at a tech company in the food delivery space. During the call with my manager and HR rep, I understood that I would be paid through the 15th. If I sign the severance agreement, I’ll receive an additional two weeks of pay. I took notes and asked questions for clarity, but yesterday I received a payment for about half my paycheck (i.e. not through 15th!). Tips for negotiating the severance package? Any chance for more cash?

Have you been fired before even starting your new job?

I signed for a new job two months ago and will start next month (3 mo notice period in Europe). They were very keen on getting me on-board ASAP before signing but since I signed the contract it has been silent from the new employee. I've emailed them with questions as I'll be re-locating to NL and it takes them 1-2 weeks to reply. Given all that's going on in the world, I'm worried they might fire me before I even start.

From the start of 2020 to the end of 2021, I single handedly kept our marketing department stay alive at a smaller org. Right before my boss got fired, & a coworker left the company, I was already taking on an operations role, plus my role at the time (marketing coordinator). For the next year, I would take the role of the VP marketing, a marketing manager, an operations coordinator and my role. I have since only been given a small raise (after fighting hard) and promotion & still only make 44K

Hey all, I just received a great offer for an AE role at my 2nd choice agency. However, I'm still in the sample assignment phase with my dream agency and will be having a third round conversation on Tuesday (the 2nd choice agency did not have a sample assignment, only 2 interviews). I don't imagine it looks good to ask the dream agency to speed up the process, but what are my options? FWIW, I already asked Agency 2 for the timeline to have my response. Thanks in advance!

I’m new in a dual media relations/digital role. I found myself surprised to see that the digital team actually has account editing video/designing graphics. Is this normal? Before I was at a larger agency where creative would be called in to do this work. We have a creative team at this new agency so I’m not sure why they aren’t called to support. It seems a bit unprofessional as these executives are clearly not ‘pros’ in this area of designing/editing.
