If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.

Every 2 weeks EY puts a couple grand in my bank account
Because there are days I actually love what i do. And I also just bought a house. Lol
Impact? I am not saving the world but my job does encourage me to give back to my community and I do. I serve on the board of a great charity. I help inner city students find internships at great firms including my own. I have disposable income to give to other causes that I don’t have time to help.
However, not why I do it. I am in ITS and my clients bring me problems they cannot solve. I enjoy solving their complex issues and making them look good. Saving the world...still no but helping people....
In the same thought of helping people, this job has afforded me a great life. I make great coin, have a great pension, have traveled the world, work with good, smart, fun people internally and externally, I go to great events, etc. It also provides me the flexibility to be with my family. So...helping people...I like to work with our people to give them an opportunity to have the great life and opportunities that I have (as they define it). Saving the world...no, but trying to bring people up to a better life.
That is how I view what I do and how it gives me purpose. I like helping people and this is how my job allows me to do it.
P1 you seems like a good partner to work with. Let me know if you guys are hiring lol
Alcohol costs money
Damn skippy. I'm doing dry January (mostly because I thought I couldn't and want to see... So far, yes, but there are still 13 days to go!) and I'm noticing less outgoing cash flow. Haven't done the math yet, but off the top of my head... Hmmm... I'd say maybe $75 or more a week on wine and vodka. Or more if I splurge on better wine. I guess I could save that cash for something better/more useful.
I pay a mortgage on a house I own and can buy treats and upkeep on three people and four pets. When I go to Chipotle I don't have to check my bank to see if I can get guacamole. I don't need to, like, change the world with my job. It just needs to pay for my loved ones to love comfortably.
Yep. I’m at the mall with my kid and it’s nice to be able to let her get a candle at Bath and Body Works without worrying about the electric bill.
To cut to the chase, many years later, this is it: Life is too short. No amount of money will make up for passing by the events, relationships, fun and waste of your effort to make others wealthy on your climb up the ladder. Invest in yourself. Take care of your own needs. Have fun, and no regrets!
Money, power, and women.
Working to pay for my lifestyle. Also 1) I already signed into this lifestyle by getting a degree in accounting and getting a CPA 2) there’s not many other fields where the path upwards is so brainless. Literally learn you accounting field and wait years and you get promoted. Wait long enough and your guaranteed a stable life.
I am also a CPA, and I work from my home, so I have no overhead. I get paid better than most positions in big cities, but live at the beach. I have a good lifestyle because I don’t have the major expense yet get paid well with good benefits. Rethink your priorities before your life is cut short is what I’m saying..
Year round work is possible with Quickbooks.
I don't find too much of the "purpose" pwc proposes. But I do find happiness in the fact that I make just enough to not give a damn about the problems my parents dealt with. As well as making enough to give them experiences they never thought reasonable. But personally, the only purpose I find in my work is that I can use it to get somewhere else. Time off is easy, vacation accumulated rapidly, generous holidays. They keep you busy, too f*** off when you need to.
