Got a great offer at another consulting firm but worried about prospect of getting laid off after joining given current climate. Thoughts?
What's the best way to get laid off with severance? I've taken all my vacation days and just got staffed. Have already quit in my mind and plan on giving my last day notice whenever they(cont)
Recently laid off from Sr. Consultant role in energy in Houston. 4 years exp in supply chain/procurement and 2 in consulting (mainly tech PM work aka scrum). Have my MBA and PSM 1 cert. I know opportunities are far and few between right now, but looking for either energy or supply chain consulting role. Open to travel once resumed. If anyone is aware of a need, I'd appreciate the help!
I’m feeling lost. I’m in my 30s and my career has been mediocre and now there is the prospect of layoffs. I haven’t had a romantic relationship last longer than a few months and I don’t have any close friends. I feel like I am failing on every front and I don’t know how to turn it around. I feel like I need some radical change but can’t figure it out Anyone have similar experience and was able to find a way out?
The more pedestrian your intellect, the better fit you are at D Heard of a colleague with an FRM charter being laid off today. Overall excellent person. And you won't believe who they promote year after year.. the character, curiosity and quality of the lifers Don't join this firm if you for a love of learning and to be inspired. Join if you are a middling who wants a good brand to hack ahead in life and rise above your station
Got an offer in industry and also got fired by the firm within an hour yesterday 😂 finally living my life for once!
My boyfriend works for Moss Adams and is scared of being laid off. Has Moss Adams done any yet?
After the layoffs we had, most people were offered a 90 day notice period, during which they have to be on-call, but there are those that get put on multiple accounts (continued)
Half my team got laid off and while I’m grateful to have my job still, I feel like I’m drowning in the additional work. All of their responsibilities have been assigned to me, the most junior person on the team. When I brought up that this was a bit much for one person/didn’t think this was sustainable (hinting at the fact that some of the other existing team members should pick some of the laid off peoples’ work), team lead went off on what I’m sure he thought was an inspiring speech about...
At a new firm and right away I knew I wasn’t going to get along with one partner. Had a conflict with one of his associates early on. Everyone else is cool. Got into it with the partner and he told me he didn’t need my help on his matters anymore. The cool associates are still asking if I can pitch in cause they’re swamped. I’m a nice guy (despite what the partner and uncool associate may say), so I’m helping out. I’m the guy that gets fired and shows up the next day. Results TBD.
Deloitte peeps: is there a typical time of the year when people get laid off (e.g., after year-end, before year-end, any time on the beach)?
My sister was a consulting manager at for a mid sized consulting firm and got fired. She got fired about 6-8 months ago, and has since been very depressed. Recently, I found out that she has been ...
For those who have been laid off, what does it look like right before? (like HR schedules a meeting with you?). I have this really bad pit in my stomach. No trolling or sarcastic stuff please.
I worked at PwC and just got laid off for seemingly no reason. Does anyone have any leads for data analytics/data strategy/data engineering type roles? I’m happy so share my performance feedback as well. It’s pretty solid.
hey all, i’m 3 years into my career. some decent work produced, some awards (mostly student). after getting laid off last fall and many many applications and emails sent, I’ve decided to spend time and money on a creative PR stunt to get my dream agencies’ attention. I’ve decided I don’t want to settle any longer, and I’m ready to make the jump to the elite. so people that have made it to their dream agencies: when did it happen for you, what made it happen, and was it everything you hoped for?
Advice Needed: Last month I was laid off from work, however, since have been able to secure another position with another firm (located 90 minutes from my house in a more rural part of the state) doing real estate closings. Aside from the commute and the work (not incredibly fulfilling or challenging) the job is fine. I do consider myself incredibly fortunate to be employed during these challenging times. Do I aggressively continue my job search or wait until the beginning of the year?
So now that the layoffs have settled for the moment at PwC, do you actually feel like a lot of the people in your group were let go? Because I don't...
Joining New Firm. I met a group of consultants on a client that we both shared. Had a good relationship with the consultants and they invited me to join their team. Are there any implications that would preclude me from joining? I’m currently in a PA firm and they were engaged on loan staff model.
How much money do you need to earn to not be too impacted by purchasing a high end car (E.g. Audi R8, Aston Martin - i.e. +200k car)

Everyone is scared to accept a new job offer now, why? Is it true you have to be employed with the SAME employer for 6 months to get benefits if laid off? Can't find online, help!
How do you get billable work? Are you constantly knocking on doors & hunting it down? Or are assignments generally given to you? Do you ever have periods of being unable to find any?
Started a new job in advisory and was assigned a client and the managers won’t respond to my intro email... what am I supposed to do with this time
Hey all, so I was initially informed my hiring process would be the following (Apple) HM interview -> Case study -> On site I completed case study last week and was informed it would take 1-2 weeks to hear back. I felt like I bombed the interview but ended up hearing back relatively quickly that I’ll be passed on for another interview (not on site). Since I am fed an additional interview before the on-site, does this mean my feedback was neutral?
Best tech companies for BizOps roles? Looking for recommendations on places that won’t make you jump through a ton of hoops for the interview process (i.e., Uber, DoorDash, Coinbase, etc.) About me: -2 YOE in Big 4 GPS consulting -Run of the mill consultant (No hard data skills like SQL, Python, or anything similar yet 🥲)
Help - Good storyline for interview (audit to FDD) Deloitte FDD Interview tmrr. Was in audit and want to make the move to FDD. Need help to find a great story to tell on “why leave audit?” “Why FDD?”
I’ve been laid off and, as I embark on my job search, I’d like to keep my marketing skills sharp. Any recommendations on must read books, or resources?
New companies color palette makes decks look like a circus. Do I just confirm and adopt the new aesthetic, or follow my own intuition and choose a similar palette which might make the deck look better.
What is the interview process for EY FIDS like? Looking to do a rotation/transfer from audit and am not too sure what to expect.
Hello! I have a two part question: 1) is it worth it to obtain an SHRM specialty credential if I don’t have the broader SHRM certification? 2) has anyone gotten the People Analytics or Talent Acquistion credential? If so, how valuable was it from a learning perspective? Do you feel it significantly contributed to your knowledge in either area? Thank you!
When I started in PA I was outgoing, considerate, bubbly, upbeat and the hours didn’t bother me. I vibed with the job really well despite feeling dominated by the leadership style of most of my coworkers as I’m touchy/feely rather than technical. Looking back I think about 3 years ago everything changed and now I’m withdrawn, crabby, cynical AF, have no energy and am hard. Any tips on how to get around this? Or is this just the typical trend? I realized all this and it’s super upsetting to me.
My firm sent an email yesterday saying their tracking billable hours DAILY. It’s either they don’t think we’re working from home or about to have some layoffs 🤷🏼♀️
Hi All, I have an offer from Deloitte M&A Restructuring, A&M PEPI MAS and PwC PEVC. Any thoughts on pros and cons of both. (Not a humble brag but thankful everyone is hiring so much!)
Is 5 YOE the magic point for exit opportunities? I see the return being generally higher than the 2-3 YOE exits.
In the 16 years since I was a summer clerk, profits per equity partner have more than doubled. The associate comp. scale has increased 20k in the same period. People wonder why associates are leaving for other jobs….
