What should an account planners portfolio look like? Do you guys create websites with client work examples? Or just share briefs and/strategy docs upon request? I just wouldn’t want to put an actual brief into a public portfolio as that feels a little weird, but maybe that’s just me. Just say no to planner portfolios. We’re not creatives and campaigns aren’t the only work we do of value.

I have a set of decks (insights, comms plan, briefing deck, brand strategy, etc) that I’m able to walk someone through as needed.

As someone hiring, I’m much more interested in hearing you talk through the way you approached a problem, then if you have some recognizable creative.

So, for sure supporting the creative output of the agency (not just the creative department) is a big part of the job. There are some things that planners are positioned to take advantage of that aren’t just the brief.

- build client relationships and have a central voice in annual planning. This helps establish the conditions to sell work more effectively.

- deep integration into any research/future product dev agenda to help steer thinking way upstream of a client brief.

- build additional revenue streams for consulting type projects like innovation, branding strat, branding design, internal client workshops, etc

- work with accounts to identify and plan organic grow and revenue opportunities.

I have a portfolio and I love it when other strategists do. Makes it easier to see how your brain works. I don’t tend to put full briefs in mine but will sum up key parts of the brief with some notes about my process / how I got there, and then share key output alongside whatever journey / connections / GTM plan I helped create. I also put some thought pieces in that show work beyond the brief.

Portfolios aren’t always something we talk about in interviews, but I also find it helpful to sum up my work that way so I have a clear story in mind when asked about projects.

Pls advise how to deal with this? My team got moved to a Sr.Leader whom I've been supporting for the last 9 months as a temp resource. The project I've been assisting him becomes THE priority for the team now. Since I have good relationship & knowledge of the product, I've been a go-to person for this Sr. Leader. However, the Sr. Manager that leads the group& reports to this leader, seems to be micro-managing me- delegating my tasks which I am capable of & trying to cut me off of my own meetings

Hi! I am interviewing for an account manager position with Uber. Has anyone completed the project? Do you have any advice on the presentation?

I need some advice on whether or not to accept a job from my client.

I love the client work I do. It's in my field of expertise, I'm passionate about the work, and I get along well with the client team. I've also always wanted to work for the government in some capacity, and it's so hard to get in at a high level without Veteran or current federal employees preference.

However, I also love my firm. I love getting to work on different things and I feel so supported by my team.
