Need some advice - been at the D for a year and have been on the same implementation project for over a year. Have a technical background and am thinking of starting to look for exits to industry but also am curious what strategy projects are and if I would be interested in the work. Is it worth networking onto a strategy project at the D or should I just continue to look for industry exists and then go b school and then try for MBB/T2 ?
Someone let out a silent killer in a meeting with an executive from the client; left everyone guessing and staring at each other throughout. I need a lot of oxygen after all this methane -_-
Just had a client FaceTime me to present because her Skype wasn’t working...that’s a new one.
First time ever I will have to work 7 days a week during busy season to meet client deadlines.
First day of a new project be like:
On a high burn project, really want to take a week off. Go live in about a month.. What would you do?
The long and the short of it. I was laid off a couple of months ago, the clients on the account I ran loved me. Can I hit the client up about freelance? The non-solicitation part in my severance package mentions something about a year (which hasn’t passed yet), but still I’m no lawyer and it’s mostly mumbo jumbo to me.
Back to back calls every day, unrelenting context switching at 30 minute intervals. At any given moment my only goal is to just make it through my next meeting / client call / orals. That's it. I'm literally existing in pure survival mode day after day. Anyone else in this special kind of Hell? Anyone successfully pull themselves out?
Does anyone else identify as non-binary/genderqueer? I am starting to come out to my friends in the LGBTQ community but I’m scared to do it at work. I also have a pretty conservative client.
Had another AD help my CW on a brief while I was on PTO for a couple of days, and is now refusing to get off the project and letting me do my job. I'm all for collaboration and appreciate the three hours he worked on it, but it's getting to the point that he's trying to steamroll me out of my own team and project by not letting me have any input on my own work. It's starting to really impact the output and dynamics. What do I do?
I keep telling everyone I’m so busy from my project and backing out / canceling calls when in reality my project is slow AF 😈
Does anyone know any agencies (or even client side) hiring a seasoned Sr Program Director or PMO lead? Preferably Chicago, but open to other cities for the right job.
Just saw a fellow consultant with slicked back hair enter the client site wearing a Gucci logo belt, plaid blazer, and deal sleds, laughing loudly on his airpods...
Folks whose h1 was picked in lottery, hav ur lawyers submitted documents to uscis. What documents they need frm client and frm u. What is last date to submit. Mine got picked but no word from lawyers
Rolled off my first project due to performance. I’m bummed and it’s the first time it’s happened to me. Talked to my coach and PM about it. Still feel like I have a scarlet letter.
How do you stay in shape on your project?
McKinsey & Company Seoul office, any insights? Curious on the overall size, culture, types of work / client base, et cetera. Thanks
I know I might be asking a repetitive question- but any tips for getting rolled off of a project where too much politics exist snd every Person is in a rate race to build a case for promotion
For those back in office are y’all just wearing masks indoors and is it affecting the way you work? I’m pro-vaccine and masks indoors when crowded. But can’t help think it being uncomfortable having the mask on working 8+ hours and taking client calls when you could have it off working at home 🏠
Has anyone gone from EY’s Forensics practice (formerly FIDS) to any of the other big 4 forensics practices? How was the work, culture, and pay different from EY. I’m thinking about maybe trying to go
Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? That will never happen!!!
All these early morning flight posts got me feeling some type of way. Another bench week, sweet dreams ladies and gents 🙏
Please comment 2 things: 1) Your base salary 2) How much money you spend a month ignoring rent (think typical credit card bill) Trying to figure out if I’ve been overspending
It’s taken over a year of looking but after being passed over for promotion at my current agency and having to do the work of two people for six months due to covid, I just got an offer to move to a better agency with a promotion and a nearly 50% raise. 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Am I the only one weirded out by these mass spreadsheets of individuals who have been laid off? Is anyone really looking to these for hiring purposes?
What does your title structure look like? Has anyone move to “Head of…” vs “Director of…” or VP of …”? Looking for pros and cons mostly
Guess who makes me feel better after a rough day at school... my dog :) Thank goodness for our fur babies! Raise your hand if you agree!
Getting into consulting (MBB) seems easier than getting a choice position in industry (e.g. Corporate strategy director).
I have been working two full-time jobs, one at a Big 4 firm and one at a start-up, for the last year. I have approval from both organizations for this arrangement. For appearance purposes on my resume, what would you suggest in presenting both experiences? I don’t want recruiters to think I’m doing anything shady or unethical, but at the same time I want to fully showcase both experiences
I’m all for the whole movement and COVID-19 climate, but I’m tired of my social media being mainly about that. I wanna see bikini pics damnit
Why shouldn’t same standards apply if you threaten to resign - irrespective of your race or gender or the type of research you do. Pretty sure I’d get fired if I used “threaten to resign” as my mode to get something
I’m still fuzzy on this whole innovation thing. People are still getting hired to the role. What do they do? They seem to be nothing more than pundits. Someone else could be hired for that salary.
What's the salary difference from promotion to senior who gets a rated a 5 vs. a 4 or a 3?
To con't the conversation on engagement rings💍 - what do they symbolize to you? My BF and I got into a discussion about this last night. He views them as an investment and an "asset" on the books for his future family. He also has grandparents who had to finance their trip to America by selling their jewels. I see the ring as more of a gift to the future bride that is an expense that can be sold for money if needed, but isn't an investment. I'm fine w/ lab grown, he is not. Thoughts?
Applied to ~100 jobs on LinkedIn in the last few months and gotten 6-10 interviews. Is this a normal hit rate or am I doing something wrong? 1YOE
Which offer should I take both in same city EY: 190 Manager with the alright bonus OW: 175 Senior consultant, target bonus 25% but almost always much higher
Considering switching out of accounting to more of an analyst role. Not sure if I should stay a little longer at big 4 or move into a industry position now. Staff 2 soon to be senior. Thoughts?
