Hi all, I just joined as Partner at one of the midsized Boston consulting firms in their NYC office. Last week, HR asked me to privately record my meeting with one of our interns pertaining to them leveraging their full-time offer internally to another group. Was it okay that I went through with it? Is this common practice?

So embarrassed. I literally had one job to do today which was to schedule a client and give and take her paperwork when she came in. Totally called her by the wrong name today AND gave her the wrong paperwork. She was really nice about it but I feel like my boss was disappointed and I'm disappointed in myself. I don't want her to think I won't be able to keep clients straight when I start doing supervised sessions.

Does anyone have sound advice for dealing with nitpicking feedback from a skip-level manager? I'm all for constructive feedback but something tells me that this individual might be out for me. However, it is also mentioned in the email that aside from the MBA degree verification after my graduation, “a reinvestigation may also be required If your initial background screening has cleared more than 60 days prior to your start date.” Do they really do background checks again?
