Can you share some more context or details about the situation? In what way is your manager retaliating, and why do you feel he/she is doing so? What steps have you taken thus far to report the situation and get some help? You say you've notified your company. Who did you notify, when and what is the current status? The more information you can share, the better the advice you'll get.

Documentation is your first line of defense.

And EEOC is the second lol

Care to elaborate on this? This barely gives us information to work on so I don't think our advice would be of any value to you. We're gonna need more context.

We need more context from your post. How and when did all of this start? There must be interesting reasons.

What do you mean by being retaliated against? We need to know the start of the story. Also, did it affect your work in any way?

Sorry to hear it. You can bring your complaint to HR and/or file an EEOC complaint. There are attorneys who will offer a free consultation if needed. This also might be helpful: https://www.eeoc.gov/employers/small-business/8-what-retaliation-and-how-can-i-prevent-it

I had a 1 on 1 with the director of the department. My manager left the company and I was doing the job in the absence. I spoke to the director about the hours and duties and was told there was nothing he could do about comp or duties and that what the manager was doing I should be doing anyway. After he said that I asked why then they were advertising the manager position on LinkedIn with the listed responsibilities of what I was just told were mine. The director didn’t like that. So I applied for the position. A week later I got a threatening email about confidentiality as well as the duties of another manager in the department. Now mind you, my manager was termed after Employee Relations and the Director made me take time off exposing my managers lack of knowledge as she was supposed to cover me. I was told to take time off in order to force her to fail. She did and they termed her. She and the Director didn’t get along. Anyway, called the Director and ER out on this. That’s when I started getting more and more work. I’ve not been invited to meetings with the rest of the Dept or even to team building events off the clock as they’re scheduled when I am unable to attend because of my job.

How long until someone is pigeonholed into a specific litigation area, generally? I started at a V50 firm in a different practice area, switched to plaintiff’s side securities litigation and am in my second full year of this practice. I like the firm and like the work, but am cognizant that at some point I need to decide if I am sticking with this or want to broaden my practice. How long does someone generally have to make this type of decision? Im a 2018 T14 grad for reference if it matters.

Even though my title is HR Assistant, I handle all of the training for our HRIS (Kronos workforce ready). I’m responsible for maintaining data feeds and implementing workflows and other ways our employees can use it. I make less than $50,000 and I only have a HR manager above me. My team has made tremendous efforts during the pandemic to ensure the safety of all facilities and people in our region as we resume in-office activity. Predicated on confidentiality, my colleague went to HR with negative feedback re a specific leader’s flexibility with the *mandatory* PPE protocol. The HR Manager went directly to the leader and gave the feedback along w my colleagues name. Since that day she’s been heavily “taxed.” HR has a responsibility to protect anonymity. How to handle?

I’m not old BUT when I was younger I thought it was important to have all the alphabets after my name (I.e. Phr, SHRM and all the others). I learning that the younger crowd coming into the market thrives off these identifiers yet they know very little about the real world aspects of the job. I watch leadership roll their eyes at the email footers. I feel like keeping those attached to my name hurts my credibility so I removed them…. I’m I thinking wrong?

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
