How to comfortably build relationships and network with other professionals. Took me at least another 4 years out of college to feel confident, but now I feel like I can approach pretty much anyone. It's honestly increased my confidence in all of my personal relationships.
Do you both mind sharing any tips?
Sometimes, it's literally just the reps that make you successful; the fact that you toughed it out longer than anyone else did. Reps give you comfort and help you build credibility, at least in the sales world.
People skills have been the most useful skills. I was very shy before getting a job in corporate, but my work experience depended a lot on my ability to build relationships.
Intrapersonal skills. For some this skill comes naturally. But for me I had to really learn it. I'm quite introverted that's why.
How did you do it
Communication skills I think this is the key to my success. How to talk to people. Everyone says I have excellent communication skills.
Since I like learning, I became a specialist in my field. This helped me decide my schedule, work, etc. Since I'm a consultant and it is all about efficiency, I'm usually one of the few experts in my area.
Yes! I agree. Nobody wants a generalist who knows little about everything but can't do the actual work.
You want to shadow and show interest in colleagues who have specialized skills but not appear to be annoying. I think that's where I've found most success is learning from those smarter than me at times when they're legitimately willing to offer help and advice.
My attention to detail. It used to slow me down so much when working on projects back when I was still in uni. Now I take full advantage of it!
Being patient? I don't know if you consider it a skill but I can maintain my cool even during heavy situations.
