Young POC + LGBT Strategists, this one's for you:
Heidi Hackemer at ZWolf Strategy has made a 6-week course on how to start your strategy career. Which is amazing in itself, considering what she's done for both my career and others'.
But it gets better: If you're selected, you get paid. No more thinking about how to make ends meet in order to get your foot in the door.

I worked at Capital One many years ago. General problem solving and business acumen can land you a job there. Comp should be competitive with consulting roles.
Just to be clear. Only comp that would equal consultants would be for folks early manager and below. Above that cap one won't be same comp levels, base or tc
I recently interviewed for Senior Business Analyst as an A2, but didn’t make it past the final round (They apparently aim to hire C level people from D for this role). Their Business Analyst group is very cool. Definitely my dream job, and I’m hoping to apply again as soon as I can. Main hard skills / experience they are looking for is business analysis, whether that be quantitative in excel / tableau, qualitative in PPT, or for some roles, functional in tech. Loved the interview process, just wasn’t quite able to pull it through in my 4th and final interview of the 2nd round. Offer would have been $105k for McLean with $10k avg performance bonus.
They've got an internal consulting team called Corporate Strategy; I'd look there. Seems like an easy route from consulting.
Literally they use the same associate, senior associate structure
Thanks B1! Also, I fee I should mention I’m not sure about salaries at Capital One. Currently 5 YOE, $95k base. Would Capital One meet or exceed that for a non-tech position?

Sure it would. Banks generally pay better for certain levels
Capital One was an awful experience for me. Yeah they hire a lot of talented ppl. At the time they’d teach you SQL. But career progression and learning overall was nonexistent and the company was rife with internal politics. Comp wasn’t compelling either. I made way more moving to BCG mid career.

I feel learning in general is much slower in industry than in consulting. It’s just the nature of the business model
I’m here as a consultant and hate it, can’t wait for my next engagement
Smart people but just full of internal politics
OP- if you’re interested in Richmond shoot me a PM. CarMax strategy is hiring and is very similar to Cap1 comp/ WLB
D2, are you at Carmax now? I have a first round (phone) case interview now and I’m just trying to get more info on the process in general.
