We have an AMAZING nanny - we adore her and she is so great with our child. We are just using her for 6 months while we wait for our daughter to get into a nursery program. We didn’t talk about this up front - but, typically, what do you do in these situations for vacation/holidays? If she goes on vacation, do we still pay her for those days? If we go on vacation, do we still pay her for those days (supposing we give plenty of heads up)?
had a miscarriage recently and am having hard time not to think or worry about what happened. It’s been 3 weeks and my husband just yelled at me saying 1. I should be grateful for the kid I have 2. We didn’t plan so I can’t worry about it. 3. That he is done caring for our toddler in the mornings( he wakes up pretty early in the morning due to daylight savings) and i am unable to sleep at night, end up sleeping in the morning. Does anyone go to therapy for miscarriage? Does it help?
My husband and I are looking to adopt a pair of cats in Chicago. Does anyone know of shelters (other than the cafes) that are doing in person meets with the cats to help in the selection process?
Was going over a case with my lawyer father, which he's working on, and realized the importance and power of 'skimming' which we obviously learn and practice doing our job. I was able to glean from...
These are the threads we should frame and hang in all agency lobbies instead! "Just got laid off. Just found out I’m pregnant. Someone say it’s going to be okay, because that seem..." See full post https://joinfishbowl.com/post_2r395j
Need advice. My mom has graciously offered to be full-time grandma daycare as I return to work. The problem is we have wildly different parenting styles and I really really want her to do it my way for a couple of the really important ones like nap schedules and feeding schedules. She flat out is ignoring me and we had a huge blowout fight where she pretty much said she didn't want to do this anymore. What should I do? Find a nanny that would do it my way? Or give in to my mom?
Thoughts on weaning - my sweet baby is now 13.5 months and was down to nursing twice a day after she turned one. The last ~2 weeks she’s either been too distracted or too tired to nurse in the evening
My mother, sister (who is a single mom with two kids), are thinking about buying another house and i’ve been thinking of investing in it.,She would make the mortgage payments. this would require me to have the house in my name and to make a down payment. bad idea ?
Best examples of ramp back programs from parental leave? I get to choose my own adventure and am curious what’s worked well for others. Minimum hours required hasn’t been stipulated. Thanks!
Expecting our first baby in a month and as a male I have no idea what to expect; insurance does not include any videos / content to help prepare. Any leads to free content / paid content to help me prepare?
Anyone else get irrationally bothered by spastic typers? The kid in the cube next to me POUNDS on his keyboard with sudden flurries of frenzied typing and slams on the backspace and return keys.
Currently a few weeks left on parental leave and have had a potential opportunity come up with a smaller firm that I think makes more sense for my career goals. The question I have is: assuming I get an offer and the details work out, how do I navigate leaving? Should I provide notice right away? Go back to my current firm for a couple weeks and then give notice? I certainly don’t want to burn bridges. How would you feel on the other side?
I have PCOS. I’m looking to get pregnant and need a physician who specializes in PCOS/high risk pregnancies in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Preferably a minority doctor.
I am looking to get life insurance for myself and my wife (both aged 32) now that we just had a kid. Any tips or recommendations on which one to go for and how to think about it? EY does offer but I think it’s limited to 50-100kish.
Has any 🐡 dealt with the death of a one’s parent? My dad’s got stage 4 cancer and I’m afraid mom won’t cope if he passes away. Going already through the worst case scenario through my mind 😐
Hey PwC time to step up your parental leave...
Thoughts on quitting during parental leave?
I have an employee who has been out on Mat leave since beginning of October. She is scheduled to come back beginning of Jan. Today I received an email from our employee asking if she can work the following schedule for the month of Jan: two week 3 days on, two off and then another two 2 days on, 3 off. This is due to COVID and not wanting to put the child in daycare (which I totally get). Not being in a situation like this before, how do I respond?
As a male mid-level/senior associate, can you take the full parental leave (10-14 weeks) and come out without impact on partnership prospects? What are questions I should be asking to get at this issue before accepting a lateral offer? Quiz recent junior partners with kids? Seems a bit aggressive but may be necessary.
As a new product manager what books should I be reading? I’ve already read Inspired but looking or more. For context, I’ve joined a series A start up and as expected there’s a lot to do and it’s very fluid. I want to be able to help the head of product as much as possible as well as provide some structure to how we work.
Is it worth it to get a professional certification like SHRM/PHR? Not many of my colleagues have one and it’s not a requirement for my role, but I’m curious if it’s worth it in the long run
Anyone here from Salesforce?
who stays at Ritz in Montreal?
Why does PwC's severance package suck so much? I've never been through something like this previously, no I guess I have nothing to compare it to, but everyone who has keeps telling it's insulting. SA
1 paycheck is spent on rent, the other is spent on loans. 2 years out of grad school, 3.5 years in consulting, make $75K/year. I have a savings ($5K) but I'm sick of this paycheck to paycheck life.
I am a level 3 counselling student. Please note that means their are limitations to my work, there is a supervisor to support me. I was wondering if anyone would like to meet via zoom for a 4-6 week session of 30 minute helping sessions? It's free, and it is confidential. I am a woman, 30, and obviously in advertising.
Who has taken a huge risk and failed? LinkedIn, business forums, and media love to normalize the “all-in” risks that led to reward, but who has a true failure story? How did or how are you working to come back from it? Life lessons exist in failure. Sharing these could hopefully help someone else facing the same crossroads.
Any more word on the PwC Forensics layoffs? It appears to be going on in multiple markets.
Is it okay to share private audit clients name during an interview? It’s for industry roles.
Interviewed for Deloitte Tech Strategy SC and got a verbal offer for Consultant instead. I negotiated the offer to 120K salary and 10K signing bonus. I’m a boomerang with 4 years ERP consulting but this past year I’ve been doing DEI Consulting. Spoke with former colleagues who rejoined Deloitte and got much higher offers for SC. How do I go back to the recruiter to negotiate further? I suggested that I’d probably sign but needed time to think. Now I’d like to go back and request 140k salary.
Don’t let yesterday‘s news disappear from this feed. If we had a union, it would never allow agencies to instill these salary cuts, furloughs, and layoffs without a clear plan for reinstatement
When you flex trip, do you expense the uber from the airport to the hotel in your alt location?
I have been seeing lot of LinkedIn posts of Googlers leaving after <2-3 years at Google On the other hand, there are those who have been trying for years to get into Google. So what are some reasons current Googlers leave after such a short time there?
I never want to fly American again! Eh
Compensation thread for RLs only 😀😃. Please list level (A2->S1), city, and increase (80->100).
Anyone else have a lingering fear that they could be fired at any moment? I’ve received great performance reviews and my partner says I’m doing very well, but I don’t vibe with my colleagues as well as it seems others do.
