I'm going through the process for a lead data scientist role at McKinsey & Company / QuantumBlack. My recruiter says that the case study will be related to data science but there's isn't an awful lot to work with online. Is it going to be same as the case interview for generalist roles? Any advice from someone who's gone through the process or works in the firm would be really helpful!McKinsey & Company QuantumBlack

the overtime wage law wasnt passed
@OP - I'm assuming you're at MVS. 😊. Take comfort in the fact that conversations have been happening on how to handle exactly this situation. The "new role" is not necessarily a new hire. In addition, if people are getting the bump to Sr and you are not, it may be be you're closer to the manager role vs Sr. best advice - chat with your manager and make your goals clear. Ask what you need to do to be considered. But also keep in mind, these roles are not officially rolled out yet. Good luck!
And the new position was only in response to the overtime wage law.
It's just a title bump most likely. Talk to your leadership team to see if you're eligible. Best of luck!
This is not why they put someone above you. Whoever told you that is trying to spare your feelings/smooth your resentment
The overtime law was passed and then held up. It's only a matter of time. Also, leadership won't say anything about it.
If you're at MVS, this was partially about the overtime law, but more about consistency across teams and agencies. MV had junior associate, then associate where Spark didn't have a junior level. For some of Spark's teams, they had analyst and senior analyst. So had to get every discipline on the same page. As MVS2 said, there are lots of convos happening about the right way to do this so people in your situation aren't punished for happening to be at analyst/associate level already.
Regardless if you feel like you're currently doing the job of the supervisor, you should definitely bring that up with your manager or even their boss.
