Slacks + blazer + tie will get you formal enough likely. If you get there and determine it’s more casual, drop the tie and unbutton collar. Alternative: wear a tux to everything and own it.

My word of advice is that you can always take a tie or jacket off if you feel overdressed, but cant wear what you didn’t bring.

Anyone not having an office party? Not upset since all my friends have left the firm, but just curious.

Yeah a little salty we are technically supposed to be going in 3x a week yet we can’t have a holiday party…

The same thing you wore to the office that day 🤷🏻‍♂️

EY Parental leave question: how many weeks were you actually out? When I took my leave 3 years ago, I counted total of 21 weeks of leave. That’s including one firm winter holiday week. I remember I initially thought I would be back after 16 weeks, but then in the middle of my time off I got an email from Leave Team with the breakdown and it actually was 21 weeks. Can someone who took leave recently tell me the actual number of weeks?

I’m accepting a job offer tomorrow, and the new company has 5 less PTO days per year than my current company, and it’s prorated based on my start date. I have my full year planned out with my current PTO schedule, and the majority of my PTO is in the latter half of my year (1 week vacation, 3 days for sisters bachelorette party, 2 days for 2 separate wedding out of town). We already negotiated, and I feel bad going back to ask for more PTO, but I need it. What would you do? How to approach?

I got hired to work as a 9-5. Will I work more if there is a need because we have tight deadlines? Absolutely, but don’t expect me to do so all the time and be available on the weekends. Why is it being celebrated to turn into a slave for a firm that doesn’t care about you anyways? Had a boss that was proud that he worked 60+ and also worked when he took vacation leave. Am I being oversensitive?

Hi ladies, its my first time posting here but thought I'd ask for some advice on this. am a beginner UXer with a design education background. I just got a job as UI Designer. I am super anxious. I am good at research to wireframing. But UI, never done it before... high fid, design systems etc are all so new to me. This is making me so insecure getting into the new job what if I make a fool of myself? What if I ruin projects and real client work? Should be excited but can't stop overthinking.

I don’t want to miss out on the match that Deloitte does but assessing if it’s worth it and if I will lose much of my money in taxes. Decision - I was out the door of my nationwide ins dfense firm. Was going to top local firm with a lot more clout where everything would be private pay and I’d be more on bigger exposure cases. However, my firm outmatched the new firm, made a much better bonus structure, and said I could do more work with their complex bus lit group. I’d still likely do about 50 percent ins defense but I really like the partners I work for, and I handle own cases/take depos, and get autonomy. Am I right to stay?

I'm an introverted person, like to keep to myself, focus on work, spend the rest of my time on family, gym etc. I've been told that I need to work on my communication and client relationship building skills. any books I can read? I don't follow pop. culture anymore, no longer actively follow team sports (but sporty myself) as I consider it bread and circus for the masses and don't rly enjoy work drinks... Am I doomed? Personally I am happy and love the work but fear for my career progression.
