Back pain!
Obesity, alcoholism, liver failure, depression, STDs, etc
Almost any career path can result in health problems, particularly due to unmanaged stress. Some guidelines I find helpful:
- Get plenty of rest (8+ hours for many folks, but quality sleep counts too)
- Eat well (whatever that means to you - consistency and moderation are generally good principles)
- Exercise regularly in whatever capacity you can, even if it’s just a 30 minute walk
- Maintain core strength - even a 5 minute abdominal strength building video every few days goes a long way in preventing back problems from traveling
- Practice healthy stress coping skills - proactively developing skills when you are not stressed is essential to using them effectively when you are under pressure
**Edit: all of these help prevent or address common health problems in somewhat sedentary/stressful/performance-driven jobs, such as depression/anxiety, high blood pressure, adrenal exhaustion/burnout, alcoholism and other unhealthy coping mechanisms, et cetera
Liver. Destroyed.
“The Firm would like to move you to an alumni role within our client network given this past year’s performance and the up-or-out policy.”
A broken heart :(
STD???? 😲 I am pretty sure this one wasn't your career fault!
Some people contract arrogance - there is no cure for it ;)
@C1 Was that ”verbatim” apart from the name obv? That’s very cold-hearted thing to say.
Broken tooth story pls
I know a surprising number of otherwise young healthy people in this job who have gotten shingles. Usually it’s old people or people with compromised immune systems who get it
While I believe in fairly health overall, my shoulders are rounding more and more as the years pass and I’m very scared of becoming a hunchback.

D1 - bring a workout band on the road. Do posture exercises and stretching every night. I suffered from a bad pinched nerve in the cervical spine and this has help quite a bit with pain and posture. Life long battle for desk jockeys.

Was in ER last year for crippling back pain. CT scan showed nothing wrong with muscles, but had severe constipation. History of back pain, and high-stress client at time didn't help. I'm still paying this bill
