I use a mini economy system. I don’t follow all of the curriculum, but I basically have kids earning and losing money to use at the auction we have in December and on the last day. Kids earn money by clipping up on my clip chart for doing good things, by doing jobs, and by completing challenges. Kids lose money by clipping down on my behavior chart for misbehavior, lying, and damaging property. For 80%-90% of the kids, it works really well and keeps a lot of small behaviors in check. There are some exceptions and they usually go to our behavior team to have a separate plan set up. If you have more questions, feel free to ask! It’s a lot to type all at once! Just remember, no matter what, to be consistent, fair, and firm.
Economy system has worked great! I also use class dojo and they can trade in their points for coupons. Big kids seem to like incentives rather than prizes. The most popular was choosing music (appropriate songs) during independent work time!
Kids are split into groups in my class. Each group gets a point when an opposing group member does something wrong in the class. At the end of the week the winning group gets a treat. I also do a raffle for individuals that go above and beyond with behavior in the classroom. Each significant positive action they do they get a raffle ticket. I pull a raffle ticket every two- three weeks! It works but their are always exceptions.
