Hey guys, I just found this group and I’m hoping for some guidance/advice! I’m hoping to get into one of the Big 4s or MBB and finally got a few referrals once joining FB. I am 29, have an MA in IOP, and 10 YEO. I have never worked for a non-Jewish company (despite trying pretty damn hard to get out) and I’m freaking out. I have no concept of normal professionalism, strategy for navigating the workplace and the real world in corporate USA,(cont. in comment)

Anyone have success cold applying for VC roles and not in MBB? Just submitted an app last week and they should be reaching out this week, but I’m not sure how long to wait before giving up…

We always keep hearing about the bad WLB in MBB, especially BCG. Want to know if it's actually true, or is it an untrue rumor spread by people who couldn't get into these companies.

(Note - I am talking about incremental WLB issues, over and above the issues at Deloitte S&O, Accenture Strategy, etc. as these issues are common in management consulting)

I ordered a Tesla model 3 SR in April and I am able to take delivery this weekend, however I’m now unsure of whether it’s the right move financially. I have a lease on a 2020 BMW X3 that will end next month and was wondering if I should just buy that out and drive it for a few years. If it makes a difference I’m in SoCal so gas is $$$, but no EV charging in my apartment.

Tesla: $830/month + charging and insurance
BMW: $600/m + $150 gas + maint/insurance

Tax return question: last year I took a loan from my 401k, and rolled my 401k to a rollover IRA bc change of job before I paid off the loan. I was told I had till the end of the year to pay it back. So I deposited the balance into the rollover IRA last Dec. I got a 1099R for that balance as taxable income. Anyone knows which IRS form I should fill out to tell IRS that I paid that money back to my rollover IRA?

Do longer hour groups pay better at pwc? It doesn't seem fair that some tech groups work 40 hrs while Deals pulls 60+. But because of cohort model, base is the same?

Have pretty great dental insurance, covers orthodontics so got Invisalign. Dentist office submitted ~$6k bill, insurance says there is a negotiated ~$4k rate. Insurance pays X and I pay the balance on the negotiated rate. Dentist’s office then tells me I’m responsible for the remaining $2K. This is illegal, right?

Would you leave TAS M&A FDD for a corporate finance FP&A role?

FP&A role is directly reporting to the CFO with heavy modelling and will have a few sprinkles of corporate strategy ad hoc projects. This role is also roughly a 20% pay increase.

Is this a good move? Not really sure what my ultimate goal is in life, for the purposes of this I would say I’m interested in both paths equally. Does switching to FP&A now bare me from returning to the M&A industry in the future?
