@D3: Partners should take a cut and keep you on payroll? I have solidarity for my colleagues who are laid off but not for ones who think this way.
For gods sake, next don't tell me that the rich should pay their fair share, They can take it but others can't, Middle class is shrinking, Greed etc
After every round everyone was told there won't be more. Just like after the last round in May, which probably won't be the last one either... Also, terminations were sudden - called in tomorrow, gone the day after. That being said, I believe folks were left on payroll for some number of weeks, which generally helps with the job search/transition.
I can only comment on what I've seen here. I think some of the anger seemed to come from internal messaging that talked about how great everything was while the layoffs were happening. Made leadership seem insincere and out of touch.
D3- it's their firm... They don't owe staff anything special when it's not in the best interest of the business
Don't make us relive this topic...
PwC 3 hit it on the head. Complete Lack of communication regarding the layoffs while congratulating everyone on the firm's performance. Mix that with people seeming to have disconnected expectations about year-end and you get the current situation
Layoffs are never fun and always piss ppl especially in an anonymous forum. Been at Deloitte for 7 years and I don't think it was handled particularly bad, or any worse than ever before
C1 D8 - yes, nothing extraordinary but that doesn't mean ppl won't be angered. You sweat blood to develop relationships within the firm and just like that, out of the blue, you are gone. The only person that wasn't angered was a friend who was burnt out, thinking about leaving and basically found out he's gonna get paid to look for a job for 2months and PTO will be cashed out.
Love that Fb has provided more transparency. It's almost like it's growing into an informal consulting union aka the industry's worst nightmare
It was handled the way it has always been handled. People just found out this year due to this App and are now can complain and bitch about it. No one ever gave a fuck before.
In still getting emails saying how well the firm is doing 😑
@D7: question about laid off next day, isn't it how it is everywhere? I hear that consulting firms do that to protect firm related data. You aren't kept around with access to intranet after you've been told about layoff. It's immediate for a reason right?
☮
Not my intention. But I keep seeing comments about it
^ yeah well we can debate for hours about fair share. So I'll leave you to yourself.
I think a lot of it also had to do with the fact that FB didn't exist before, so there wasn't a place for people to vent before now
Many are upset because it seemed arbitrary and also targeted specific groups more than others (2nd year SCs)
Some may have been let go cause of shitty SMs
Directors were laid off as well.
Got it so almost entirely communication. Is the firm doing well now but perhaps pipeline is light for the future?
