how do you all make decisions on where to live? In terms of city….I know such a broad question… I’m struggling to find a new place to call home, don’t reply have any roots and could go anywhere. Most of my peers move to one place post grad due to job and only move due to job changes. With remote work I’ve moved out of HCOL and struggling to figure out how to find a home again….
ACN folks: For anyone considering switching to Southwest, there's a pretty easy A-List match requiring only 3 r/t flights in 90 days. May make sense even if you just have it for personal use.
Having to renegotiate compensation package soon and need some thoughts/ideas on what to ask for. Increased salary? Bonuses for sale? I am company’s first and only GC. Been there almost a year. In process of completing big M&A deal and company could sell within year as a result. Came to company from litigation background Bc I knew their business. Not sure if potential buyers would still want to employ me or if there are other potential implications I’m missing. Thank you in advance!
Ramadan Mubarak Everyone!
Hi, I'm an HR Generalist and the HR contact for our local facility. My HR team is located out of state. I'm running into a problem with the local GM. He does his own thing, refuses to follow processes that I implement, and would rather talk to the head of my department instead of the Senior HR Manager and myself. When I ask clarifying questions, he gets defensive and states that I'm questioning him. Not sure how to deal with this situation.

What is the best way to think about equity as a part of TC? I originally thought to take a risk adjusted value at exit and peanut buttered that number across years btwn now and exit but after reading the actual equity grant paperwork it seems like the equity is more like a lottery ticket. The equity is worth basically nothing until company sells, you can be terminated for any reason any moment before sale, and you have no real recourse because you agree to arbitration and a non compete.

Can recruiters see the title of the person who referred you? At which firm does it make a difference if at all?

Hello fishes, I am in an IT Presales role with overall 5.5 YOE (including 3.5 YOE post MBA).
Currently i am serving notice period, and I have a central bid management offer from Hexaware (18.5 LPA) and an HCL offer in the pipeline for Healthcare presales, both based out of Bengaluru.
I am not expecting a great increase in the offer from HCL compared to Hexaware.
Any suggestions on which could be a better organization for a switch?

Baby lawyer here. I’m wondering, how far does privilege go in day-to-day conversations? I’ve been erring on the side of caution, but is it permissible to mention that a certain company is a client of your firm, or would that be a breach of privilege?
Is there any attorney job that exists where I can be fully remote and have 0 interaction with people or do I just need to leave this profession

Anyone ever experience a firm significantly misrepresenting a position they hired you for? I recently took a position with a firm to practice a specific type of litigation. Turns out the firm only has about 5 cases in that field and they are all already staffed up. Now I’m stuck at a firm I barely like doing work that’s completely irrelevant to my experience and career goals, and I feel like leaving within a year is a bad look resume wise
I had an interview at a law firm and their recruiter wants to talk on a Sunday afternoon. Is this a red flag about company culture and not respecting weekend time? Or are they just in a big hurry and want to get my offer done quickly so they snag me before someone else?
I am at a very small firm (<10 attorneys) and am “interviewing” with a larger firm. Considering partner and counsel roles. Beyond compensation structure, billable requirements, and partnership expectations, what questions should I ask? If considering partner position, what is fair to ask about their books?
As much as a despise Trump, I can’t help but being deeply concerned about Twitters move to permanently ban Trump. I would really like to open a discussion (hopefully, a respectful one) regarding the implications of this... is this move a net negative or positive?
I’m an associate at a boutique law firm working on complex litigation and regulatory matters. I’ve worked at the same firm as a summer associate and the last three years directly after graduation. I’m worried that I’m not getting enough “practical” experience. I haven’t taken a deposition, only attended two oral arguments, and tend to write parts of briefs or motions but never in their entirety. (Continued in comments)
I know the political turmoil and messed up policies/decisions have hurt our economy and the state of the country in general, but damn do I love my country 🇺🇸❤️ there’s no place in the world I’d rather be.
I joined a firm three months ago but was recently offered the opportunity to lateral to another firm for significantly more money and less billables. How common/appropriate is it to move firms this soon? This firm has waited more than 2 years for me to come on, has been supportive, and so far the work atmosphere has been good, but the money factor and less work is tempting at the other firm. Thoughts?
I had a break down in law school. I was briefly hospitalized and missed part of a semester. I feel guilty about it. I have issues, but looking back a lot of it was a combination of my existing alcohol use, depression, and immaturity. I have flashes of memories of me begging to be hospitalized because I felt so sad and afraid of failure. I don't know why I acted that way,. I don't like that person, and it's hard for me to imagine a world where I find peace despite my terrible behavior. Cont
Comp question: I’m in plaintiff litigation in a major east coast city. I receive $148k base, and have been making another $150k or so in commissions. I have 13 YOE and feel like I’m making significantly less than my colleagues with similar experience. Should I ask for a substantial raise in base and/or an increased percentage in commission?
