What was your first week back after maternity leave like? How long did it take for you to feel like you’re back on your game?

First week back was kind of a wash, even week two. A lot of catching up. For my first child it took more than a month to feel up to speed and ready to go. But it was straight back to work after 3 months. Second child my company offered an ease back program (1st week work 1 day, 2nd week work two days...and so on). This was amazing and helped me ease back and helped my family ease into a new routine. This gradual approach also made the transition back to work more seamless but it also took longer - but this was expected.

OP That’s rough. I’m sorry they put you in that position. I’m terms of the person talking poorly about you - that is a scathing reflection of that person and their (lack of) managerial skills - not you. That was irresponsible of them to put so much on you 2 days back after mat leave.

With my first, I feel like it took me a few months to feel totally back on my game. That new mom brain fog is real. When I went back I was also reporting to a new manager that was hired while I was on leave, so the learning curve of figuring out how to work best under a very different management style than I was used to didn’t help. But my first week was fine, and mostly consisted of being brought up to speed on everything that was going on for my brand. I’m sorry that you’ve had to deal with a return situation that clearly is not setting you up for success. Give yourself some grace. I feel like your colleague who was overseeing your work speaking poorly of you and your work is more of a reflection of who they are vs who you are and what you are capable of, and hopefully the rest of your team will recognize that, especially if you have been there for a while prior to going out on leave and are working with people who know what you can do/type of teammate you are. Congrats on your baby and sending lots of positive vibes that your transition back into things gets easier and smoother.

Hello I am a current nutrition masters student that will be finished with my degree this July and am trying to get involved with healthcare/ tech consulting. I have done 4 years of research in various fields and have readily available skills. If anyone can refer me to a consulting job or to a recruiter that would be greatly appreciated!

How is the work life balance in Wipro?
Does they provide any reimbursement for WFH peripherals like Accenture does?

A different kind of working mom post:

Many of you have young kids... are there any moms of teens here?

I am at a point where my teen's newfound "independence" is starting to impact my focus and time at work - his running off to hang with friends without permission, etc is becoming a distraction during the workday, and the impact has definitely been noticed by my superiors at work.

The issues with the kid are being handled appropriately - this is more about how to overcome perception at work

Does anyone have experience leaving their firm and using the pension benefit to negotiate with the new company? I’m not vested and will receive an offer from industry (company doesn’t have a pension plan). Curious to hear what others have done. My pension wouldn’t be huge but it’s a decent chunk of money to walk away from. What are some things that have worked? Additional sign-on bonus, bigger stock grants, etc. Thanks.

Looking to leave but trying to conceive ( 1 year now and having fertility issue). I am sticking around cause the flexibility is great with me need to see RE and get blood draw. But also concerned I'm just going to end up not leaving if I never get pregnant :( Upcoming year will be a new client for me and I know it'll bring stress. However a new role in industry might not be as easy either and I'll need to prove myself, where as currently I'm already regarded as a high performer and gained trust.

Im in a junior position, have excellent feedback, work hard. I make very little $. I had 2 job offers and told my current company I couldn’t afford to stay there. They immediately matched. 4 months later I followed up and the timing of the adjustment will now align with the timing cost of living increases for inflation which apparently I’m ineligible for. Should this exempt me from a cost of living increase due the adjusted salary 5 months after we agreed to this?

It’s not the amount he sent (I would have preferred 50$). But it’s the fact that he didn’t consult me in the amount. He apologized but I am now wondering if I am too cheap.
