What were your baby showers like (location, food, etc.)? I’ve only been to really large, elaborate showers and I’d like some alternates for benchmarking. Thanks!

We had a “jack and Jill” shower, meaning it was for both me and my husband and had all our friends there. It was a casual bbq and it was great bc once you have kids you don’t get to spend as much time with your friends.

We did not do one 😆

We did the same, but since it was Dec instead of a BBQ we did a holiday party.

Backyard party with a tent ⛺️

One at someone’s house and consisted of presents and some games. The other one was at a big rented room at a Indian restaurant t but was self catered (my in laws are Mexican). The cake was tres leches. Both were inexpensive and low key

I had 2. One my friends threw at a bar during my football team's game. Then, I got a surprise shower my team and client threw me! I was so surprised, it was only a 5-month project too (not like a multi-year project). They convinced the partner to pay for it!

We did a diaper party with males and females. We provided drinks (keg included) in exchange or diapers of any size. It made my SO feel included and much more fun than a group of females opening onesies.

Pregnant with THREE babies. You saw that correctly. Why is maternity leave the same no matter if you have a single child or multiples at once? I don’t think I’ve ever been more scared in my life lol

I (36F) am married to another woman (34F) and we have a baby (5moF). We split all childcare, cleaning, meal prep, errands etc fairly evenly and it works well. Maybe she cooks more than I do bc she likes it, and I clean more bc I need to have a clean house. My friend (35F) recently took a business trip and literally put a binder together with instructions for her husband re: daycare drop off and pick up, what to feed the kids, when to take out the trash and so on. 6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

Pregnant with my second. I keep getting asked if I’m returning after mat leave. The answer is 99% no, but having trouble saying “absolutely yes” with a straight face. My answer has been closer to “maybe under the right conditions”.

Would you be more or less honest??

My first therapy appointment tomorrow! I’ve never dealt with depression before having my second kid and my PPD was/is rough! Filling out the intake form I basically had to list out all the things I’ve dealt with - rape, mom issues, death in family during pandemic, kid hit by car, ppd, and a slew of over things… looking forward to working through these things over time, whatever that might look like.

As a manager of a restaurant, how is it best to address parents with screaming babies/children given that it is not a kid-encouraged establishment? The parents were oblivious to proper etiquette and other guests complained making the parents of the screaming baby wildly offended. How does management appease all parties? Or is it best to protect the masses?

I lived in tampa in my early 20s and am now in my late 30s and looking to move back. One of the reason I left is because I felt I had too much energy for the city for a single young professional, but now husband is from there and we have a kid but we are both social people. Do you guys find it easy to meet interesting people and has the city gotten any more fun?

Has anyone figured out how to not feel absolutely horrendous when you wake up? I dread mornings because waking it so hard for me.

I prioritize getting 7-8 hours of sleep (this is the best I can do at the moment with work and a small baby) and I’ve stopped drinking because even 1 beer seems to make the morning 10x worse. Anything else I can try?

Anyone have three kids and working in big law? I just found out I’m pregnant with no. 3 and it’s been a lot trying to juggle morning sickness, but based on my experience, I know this is only the tip of the iceberg of what’s to come. My husband and I are elated, but the anxiety of being a mom of 3 kids and working in big law is preventing me from truly enjoying this news. It would be good to know what it’s really like having 3 kids so that I can evaluate how long I really have left in big law.
