People who are not current teachers (this includes admin, “district office” people, parents, school boards, politics, and government) not understanding what the fuck we teachers deal with on a day to day basis and what we are willing to do for every single student of ours! And in return being yelled at and not paid enough by the people who couldnt do our job because the dont have the patience, love, or human decency that us teachers have!
That it will go mostly online and digital and the basic social skills and everything else that students learn while in school will be lost.
With that being said I’m excited in increased access to high quality material via digital means to all types of students
I agree. I’ve had a few students come from online schools and they are behind academically and lack appropriate social skills.
That it’s not being prioritized. We may no longer have to memorize facts, but we need to all be aware that students have to be taught and practice analyzing data. Education is still just as important
Student behavior and parents not holding their children accountable, instead they make excuses for them and pass the blame on the teachers.
This is my number 1 concern about the future of education !
The future of mental health in schools, and the lack of empathy for kids that are coming from more and more difficult situations.
That the push for skills over content will create a generation of ill-informed people
The division that continues to grow between low income and affluent students. Also, that our public education will be dismantled by the growth of charter schools with discriminatory admission requirements
The dismantling of teacher unions and the backlash against public education and its educators. The amount of passive aggressive “why aren’t teachers doing ____” when most of these blanks should be parent-taught skills is making me defensive. I’m worried about my retirement fund and legislators trying to dismantle it. BUT I’m not worried about my students. They are killing it.
