How much work experience do you have? What industry and roles have you been in? Are there specific industries you’re targeting for product roles?
One piece of advice is that not all companies call entry level PM roles “product”. I’ve worked at companies where the junior product roles are called Business Analysts, for example. The title throws some people off because they want the right title, but it’s more about what you’re doing in the role.
So when you’re looking for jobs, don’t discount roles that don’t have product in the title. Or consider roles that are adjacent like Scrum Expert or Product Owner. Those can often be easier stepping stones to move into product than searching for a product manager role.
I've never looked at Business Analysts as junior product manager but that makes a lot of sense when you break it down like that.
Have you considered startups that have an overlap between tech and the industry you already have experience in?
Thank you, I really appreciate that!:)
