Hi! I received written offer today of a promotion into Private Banking from Retail Banking. What are some things to consider when negotiating compensation and benefits? Can I ask for company stock?

I have about 6~ years experience as a paralegal and have a JD. Trying to determine how much I should be making a year before bonus with my experience. I have been at my current mid size litigation firm for approximately 3 1/2 years. I am also in San Francisco.

When they payout the bonus for the year, it is paid in September for PwC while FY end in July. I assume it is also withheld 40%. Feels like there’s a lot of time value lost in bonus.

Why do firms have billable minimums or requirements for associates? This may be a stupid question. If an associate works really hard and delivers good work product in a timely manner, while also seeking additional assignments when needed, don’t the billable hours take care of itself? Currently filling DS 160. My parents are currently in US on B2 and will go back in July. When I go for my H1 stamping, they will not be in US. Should I answer the question on whether they are in US based on where they will be when I go for stamping or where they are when I am filling the DS 160?
