Congrats OP. If you're a newly promoted Manager, I think an exit to SM in tech is the right alignment. Since money is one of the main considerations, just be open about it to LinkedIn and ask them to match your base and/or ask for a higher RSU. You should also try to get a sign on bonus. Mind sharing what will you be doing at LinkedIn and your current competency?

Thank you. It's just a B2B strategy and operations role at LinkedIn. Currently in a general consulting role.

Your offer for Senior SalesOps Manager seems a tad low on the stock side. Your base is good, but you can definitely get more RSUs, I would ask for $240K / 4 years. Your comp honestly looks more like a Manager offer than an SM one, which is perhaps why that’s the case but that makes sense given your YoE and recent promo. SMs usually ask for $300K. LinkedIn also has significantly better benefits than Big 4 ($2K Perkup which can be used on student loans, $1.5K from ESPP discount, 50% 401K match, worth $9.5K a year no vesting, $50 a month for internet, $80 per month for cellphones, $1K for home office, $100 per year on accessories like headphones etc.)

Thank you so much for these details. Incredibly helpful!

did you really need to make this post or was this an obvious humble brag

likefunnysmart

Thanks, this does make a lot of sense. Appreciate it!

Take the LinkedIn job. From what you posted I don’t see reason why you wouldn’t. Job interests you, it’s better comp, you get the RSUs. What’s making the decision difficult for you?

like

Good job. Take the industry role. They are paying well.

like

„Really interested in the role“ vs „ dont enjoy the work“ You can figure this one out! (And pls fix the TC statement)

like

Tks! I have a student loan that I need to get rid of it so the base salary is important for that reason. I understand your point, but it's not as straight forward unfortunately but am definitely weighing this in.

like

Congrats OP! Few people here seem to be too cold! LinkedIn definitely seems to be a better choice. RSUs in long term can most likely outweigh the $15k difference

Curious to know which Big 4 pays newly promoted manager 202k?

like

It's because of a big market adjustment based years of experience as Tech has been offering much higher pay and high attrition across consulting practices in all firms.

Fairly certain you beat me out for this role haha I was just notified they moved forward with offering another candidate. Bummer, but honestly Linkedin is an amazing company. I think it’s a no brainer. Long term comp and long term growth opportunities while having a work life balance make this an easy choice. Congrats, OP!

like

Good luck!

OP I’d just have you know that you should work at understanding how to properly use debt. That what wealthy people do. 15k is not the kind that you keep you up at night. I suspect you have assets you can easily liquidate to pay it off anytime. It’s a nothing burger. I started our aggressively paying my SL at 90k. Now I’m at 57 and paying only the min cos it’s 3%. I can easily get higher than that in the market. It doesn’t even factor into this decision. Pls DM me if you want to talk further but I suspect you’re better off taking the LI role without question.

like

Thank you so much, hadn't considered that, but will definitely try this!

funny

Honestly this comes off as a humble brag. Really hard to imagine this being a hard decision.

like

Understand it can be interpreted that way, but I can only say that was not my intention, probably should have worded it better to call out the exact points of concern I have with the LinkedIn offer.

Understand you need the base to pay loan, but LI is 109% better with benefits exit oops potential stock appreciation etc

like

Op I fully understand your situation. It seems obvious choice for you but it is not. You are asking some advice from this group. One thing you did not mention - do the firm see you as a potential partner at Deloitte? If that answer is yes, you need to think about it. You can always find Interesting work at big 4. Other than that LinkedIn offer looks to be better.

like

Is this remote or in SF?

SF

Seems like a reasonable price to pay to not be miserable. If you are not happy with big4 you are setting yourself for burnout and other ailments.

Hi OP, Do you have people reporting to you in the new role? That would be worth considering. Also congrats on the role!! Can you share how you prepared for it?
