In Deloitte, we have corporate contracts with the rental car agents irrespective of the client!
If you rent the car under Deloitte contract and you are on firm business then the accident is covered
If booked under firm travel policy, Amex is your insurance. Someone hit my rental while parked. Hertz changed out the car, and then Amex handled the rest.
I got in a accident 4 years ago in a PwC rental car and I know someone who totaled one. Amex is the insurance and Hertz took care of it.
Actually this is a serious question for your PMO on your project, my project just ran into the same issue because it was never discussed and documented with the client. Ideally you have documentation saying that whichever company is being billed for the rentals also pays the insurance rates, and/or personal liability insurance is required for all employees of the consulting company. That way the insurance companies for the two companies can hash it out and you're still covered if that process takes a while.
I got rear ended by another consultant on the way to the airport. We were both going to hertz. Went together to hertz never had them say anything. She ended up sitting next to me on my flight that day and is on my flight every week. My accident was super minor though.
In terms of insurance coz it is a rental car?
Yes and since its expensed to your firm
I've been in two accidents...one my fault, the other was not. Fill out the paperwork with the car rental company, file a police report, follow the guidelines on the travel site on Dnet, and then forget it happened. In both cases that took care of it with no personal liability for me.
Yeah, I agree with the above. Literally popped a tire two days ago and was freaking out about what would happen. We have Business Traveler insurance included with Deloitte rentals and I literally brought it back in for a car swap (after AAA put the donut on). I was just contacted internally like 10 minutes ago with an accident report to fill out.
Be cautious of what country you are in. US fully covered call PMO on project. In UK from first hand knowledge pay for damage and expense after talking to pmo on project to get the right people involved to cover
