Lol that would be a reason to take the loans and not get drug back to daddy D

I mean just look at the average exit salaries and see how that compares to your current role and progression. If you laser focus on a specific industry and you’re above avg profile you can reasonably expect top 25% percentile pay. Most post mba salaries will accelerate fast tho. Factor in that internships pay well and you can take advantage of low taxes in some cases. Student loans are not expensive at all once you refinance private postgrad. But yes it’s ridiculously expensive. But still worth it for most and pays off quickly

only worth the cost if you are doing top 25 ranked MBA program or any other program that is actually a target school for top employers. Probably wasting time and money if going to any other school. MBA graduates have long been saturated in the market

like

Brand matters for your grad school. Given that you made it to D already, may not need it to accelerate compensation. Can switch within the B4 pretty easily. T2 or MBB might be a bit harder without a masters, but if your skills are a fit, you can make the switch. This is assuming you want to stay in consulting and not go into PE. Consulting into high paying industry is possible too without the huge MBA investment. It’ll be skills based.

Just make sure your future salary will place you in an advantage compared to the debt you will take on for the MBA. I have one and it looks great on my resume, probably got me the interviews at first but it’s really all my years of experience that have mattered

If you aren’t going FT don’t do PT/Executive. You get half the value or less - much of which is the connections and network. I did PT and my fiancé did FT, I have friends who did both, no matter what anyone says on this app about PT it isn’t the same at all.

Drexel baby

That's nuts. I don't have an MSc not and MBA but I wouldn't consider that tuition cost at all. Are you going to for a position where they are that picky about the school? You may want to consider that. There are lots of programs available that wouldn't be near that cost.

I’m in an executive program right now, and it’s for the letters; if I ever want to work in healthcare administration, I need them. But the value prop for taking two years off and doing a full-time program that doesn’t CATAPULT you into a very new, much better place is just…not there.

It isn’t a $400K price tag. You can’t just count your entire salary in the opportunity cost as if you’d be saving 100% of it if you weren’t in school. You are failing to deduct expenses that you would incur regardless, such as rent, food, taxes, trips, etc.

That's not how opportunity cost works. If I would make $100k for 2 years but instead make $0 for 2 years, my opportunity cost is $200k. How I decide to live my life is irrelevant to the opportunity cost. Spending money you earn via salary is the same as spending money you get via student loan. You can argue opportunity cost of taxes, since having a lower AGI results in lower taxes, but that's really splitting hairs.

Save for it in a 529 to reduce your taxable income. Consider than exit ops bump you to 190 for the first 2 yrs including bonuses for any of the top consulting firms. And that continues growing. Don’t go: make 200k Go: spend 90k assuming tax free investments Earn 400k the 2 yrs after. Continue earning higher than you otherwise would. (Only you can check this part - if you’re on trajectory in 2 yrs and don’t want the network/skills, don’t bother) Loans make this harder, but it’s very doable. My NW rocketed upward bc I planned ahead, didn’t change my lifestyle, and saved the difference.

I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?

I work 8+ hour shifts in the office as we are an essential business where masks are required at all times. Has anyone else had the experience of wearing a good mask at work and getting excruciating headaches at work that last for a few hours after work? I've already had an isolation period so it's not Covid, but I'm thinking it might be the higher levels of carbon monoxide, as I've tried wearing a different mask and did not have the same problem.
