I would smile, laugh, and be happy all day everyday just to annoy them. Never let anyone steal your joy and don’t react to those petty teachers. Keep being happy and great. Oh and whisper a prayer for them.
Yes, I love your response. It sounds like what I call high school behavior. They're petty and immature.
Let them talk. There are always a few bad teachers in every building. Eventually they find someone else to talk about.
I guess you're supposed to be professional. Personally, I'd probably confront them with, "Do ya'll have a problem with me or something!? Cause if you have something to say, then you can say it to my face!"
I would bud up to them also and act just like they do and ask in a whisper voice what was the secret. They may finally stop.
Smile and do the best job you can.
Sounds like high school. Sit by them and single out the leader. Ask (her) if you can help answer any of her questions. Once she says no inform her group how awful it feels to not be treated with respect and how it is affecting you. Inform them of how petty and unprofessional it is to act this way, especially as role models for children.
Then report the harassment via email if it continues to happen, first to the administration and then to HR. Work place harassment is no joke.
It could all be a misunderstanding, too. So, confront the group to ascertain their intentions first.
Also— get a witness to help observe the behavior and give you feedback.
Ignore them! You're there for the kids. Do your job and go home.
Administration is a tough job. As professional educators we have to be above the behaviors of our students. I understand how you must feel, but for your career and sanity, ignore and you do you! Let them be. You are an educator because it was your calling. Be the teacher you have inside. Best wishes for a positive new year.
