Hello Fishes, I'm in my NP and lwd is sep 19th. I gave technical round for Accenture last week. It's cleared and same is reflected in Accenture portal. Even HR called and discussed about salary and offer negotiations. I agreed to the amount that she said. After that she told that i will have to attend a final Managerial round. But still she hasn't arranged it. When asked about it today, she said that she is looking for a interview slot with panelist. Anyone know what's happening in this case? Acce

Cont,..the kind who kick people out before their 2 weeks are out. Last firm has a policy that they do not give recommendations for former employees. Cant ask current place bc then they will know I am looking…..so asked a partner who left last firm. He agreed to do it on monday. Find out from recruiter that the firm left a message for him and he didnt bother to call back until friday (he was on vacation). Suddenly, find out from recruiter the firm isnt going forward with my offer. My gut is saying the partner gave me a bad recommendation; I dont know why he would agree to give me a rec if he was going to give a bad one. But nothing else makes sense? Recruiter has only said my lateral moves were their hangups…except those were on my resume and discussed in the 3 interviews and were there when she said i was getting an offer. Just frustrated and pissed that i was told I was getting an offer and then didnt get one and have a lame excuse why. Crazy that if it is a bad rec that one person has the power to ruin my chances…..feel like even though you leave a toxic place, it still may have power over you in situations like this. How do you deal?
I dealt with a similar situation that I told them I had concerns that they reached out to my current law firm for rec because I was not comfortable doing so until I locked my offer. So I called all my prior colleagues and asked for recommendations instead. I provided their names only after I felt confident or they were happy to give me recommendations. I had a professor who told me that he was happy to give me recommendation, and then after I left his office and came back for something I overheard that he was laughing at me and said he did not give me a good recommendation to another student. I was pissed but could do nothing about it.
Exactly. I wished he would say no to me politely or not.

Sounds like he didn't leave a good recommendation for you. Did you have to coax him to agree to serve as a reference or did he happily agree? Did you share details about the role, what you're looking for, what skills to lift up about you when you spoke with him?
As to your question about what we'd do in the situation, I'd move on and keep looking for my next opportunity. Toxic work environments really can hurt you after you leave but you have to develop relationships with senior people who can serve as a reference for you. Kind of a grin and bear it situation at times, which is a struggle for most people.
He readily agreed. Honestly, why agree?!? Thats the crazy part. Sadly, at that firm, it was a revolving door so I was the most senior associate (despite only being there 2 years) and the partners were a good ole boys club.
Consensus is move on. I think he will lie about what he said honestly. Why would he admit he gave me a bad reference? Also, he has asked me for forms and help since he left our old firm….which is why I more disappointed in the outcome. It wasnt like w cold call for a recommendation.
Ugh I'm sorry! I never understand lawyers who actively try to ruin or burn bridges in this industry. I'm sure you'll be able to find another lateral positions bd good luck!
Did he assure you he would serve as a good reference for you?
I asked if he would give me a recommendation and he said yes. Even cleared it with his current firm.
