I don’t think this kind of personal and private medical information should trigger a reaction…

There’s always a reaction.

I honestly don’t think I’d have much of a reaction. Maybe sympathy and respect because from my very little understanding of BPD, I’d guess they had to overcome some serious struggles to get where they are.

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll comfort myself with the fact that I did say I have a limited understanding of it haha but I appreciate the correction.

Not a lot, but if they asked me to look out fir signs of mania, I'd be there for them. Read Burn Rate by Andy Dunn.

It was illuminating!

Many great lawyers have bipolar disorder!

No reaction except in private you can offer to carry some burden during hard times. Maybe

I’d have massive respect. To have mental illness is hard enough but to get where they are that’s massive work and clearly an ability to weather difficult shit.

I have bipolar disorder. I would hope the reaction would be that of understanding and not something stigmatizing.

like

My reaction would be to mind my business. 🙃

like

Empathy and understanding. And I think respect, too. This job is hard enough. I’d hope they were well supported but it wouldn’t be my place to say or do more than that.

I would be extremely supportive. I have adhd and depression. And I’m in recovery. I’d be like Team Misfit Toys!

At the same time, I might not disclose my diagnoses because I don’t trust lawyers. Only my bestie colleague knows I’m in recovery. And even he doesn’t know about the adhd yet. Lawyers are generally sadistic and judgmental in my experience. So take care of yourself

Okay! So…
I receive a job offer and I accepted because it’s a corporate company plus great pay! $75K

My current company is trying to retain ($52K) and NOW they said would you stay if we match the pay and they are basically trying everything to make me stay.

I don’t know how to go about it from here. I’m having a “chat” over lunch with the director and they’re probably gonna ask me why/ what/ can we do anything but I just wanna leave. Like how do I make them understand politely and nicely?

Does anyone else have problems with people from other disciplines just flat out rewriting strategy slides in decks? Any tips on how to get the behavior to stop? In internal checkins everyone always seems on board, but afterward they will just go in and completely change the slides without consulting me. I love feedback, but I've never experienced this before and rewriting slides without my input feels like a major line being crossed. Unless I'm just crazy? I truly don't know any more.

I'm drowning in one-off business logic or planning requests ever since the last shuffle of devs. I'm the most senior, and def know the most, but on a team where our devs wear many hats, it means that I don't get to code nearly as much as I want to.

I also feel like these one-off requests do nothing for my career, as they're not seen as valuable to anyone other than the requesters.

Has anyone been in this position? What do I do to combat this?
