I’m a 2017 associate in NYC biglaw. I logged approx. 2300 billable hours in 2019. Is that light, normal or heavy in the biglaw market for RE associates at my level? Thanks in advance for thoughts.

Repost - For those who left big law and went in house or transitioned to another career path, how did you decide what to do? I know I do not want to do litigation anymore, but don’t really know where to go from here. I’m thinking about quitting just to take a few months and decide where to go next. I’m studying for my CIPP cert, but I’m not even sure if I want to work in data privacy. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!

For those of you who have left law and are now working in a business discipline (management, marketing, strategy etc), did you rewrite or tweak your resume before applying to jobs? Did you include a cover letter with your applications?

Got asked to help with a “2nd Level” doc review for a huge case. Seems like the firm was begging for about 50 associates. Staffing partner asked if I can help. My hours haven’t been all that great but I just started 6 months ago. First quarter is allegedly slow based on what I heard from partners. Idk if other associates in my group were asked. I said yes since I need to make my hours this year, but I wonder if this is a bad sign? Also, I’m not in litigation.

Watching CSI type shows was more fun before I knew the limitations of the technology, it seemed like magic to me
