I am contemplating a Strategy Insights & Planning AC offer from ZS in the US. Being early in my career I am placing a premium on learning, growth, and development opportunities. I basically want to be sure i’d be doing strategy consulting, building core consulting skills / business acumen, and not be doing any bs “consulting” work that isn’t really consulting (e.g. staff aug or implementing SAP). I would really appreciate insight and perspective from Zs-ers. ZS Associates

I think a lot of people are really frustrated by the incessant demand to leverage down this work, bc it comes back as absolute garbage. They tell us to train the people, but the people who are doing this work are paid so little and the turnover is terrible, training ends up being a waste of time. The tech initiatives are non existent from what I see. I am actively looking for someone to help us with some reporting stuff that could really use some tech and there is no one. So we essentially get yelled at to leverage down work, to spend less time doing things, but the resources are either not there or are genuinely really terrible.
I know Alteryx and bots have definitely been used to automate tasks in Tax. But results vary. I recently had a team of Alteryx “experts” work on a project and they charged $125k of time to the code. If I had known they were going to charge that much time, I could have used one of my staff to set up the Alteryx workflow for $25k.
