Lenovo is probably the unanimous answer

You can't compare the brands. That's not a good approach. Both make decent and also mediocre low end laptops. You need to compare the line of laptops within each brand. For example you can't compare the the Lenovo Yoga line with HP Spectre laptops. A better comparison would be the Lenovo ThinkPad with HP Spectre.

13 inch form factor laptop with approximately a 14 inch screen (basically it's almost frameless). Minimum of full HD 1080p resolution and much preferably a matte screen and 300+ nit.

I agree with 13” frameless or 14”. If you don’t have to travel a lot, I’d say get the 15. Lenovo is the standard for consultants.

14 pr 15 inches are plenty big.

14. Lenovo.

Currently on a project that has nothing to do with me. I understand developing a new skill set but I have no past experience that aligns with the scope and deliverables of the project. I've spoken with the PM and they say I'm still the best fit. I think it's just due to the firm being understaffed. Time to talk to my direct to get off that project? Thoughts?

Something on my mind is how I often hear my white male friends complaining about affirmative action biasing their mba eligibility, but when I point out white people have it easier than Asians they become very defensive. Funny how they can see themselves as the victim but not that they benefit from the system. Would y’all agree with the premise (Asians have it harder than white people)? If so, have you noticed this white defensiveness in your life?

My first holiday season in-house after a couple of decades in private practice, doing the same kind of transactional work that I’ve always done. My year is functionally done. No one else is around or working. I’ve been so conditioned to expect to grind out through the holidays that it makes me think of how Brooks in Shawshank had become “institutionalized.” I only worked hard the last couple of days because I set some deadlines so as to get things tied up before the holidays - the old mindset!
