Let's talk comp. If you brought in 1000$ in GDC, what would your payout be on that, and which firm are you at?
Evaluating an offer from a start-up but would be missing out on many pre-tax benefits that lower my taxable income. Any great websites that help me figure what I’m losing in tax so I can neg. salary?
Anyone have experience leaving NYC for a ‘3rd tier’ market (v small city). I’m debating a move —it would mean a 50% salary cut but hopefully a better balance and a happier me! Thoughts?
Think we'll see more than $500 extra in bonus for headcount being down so much and having to pick up the slack for the same medicore pay?
Advisory Senior Consultant (Been here 2 years, and just made Senior) in Texas with salary of about 65k. How does this make any sense?
Anyone else think companies have convinced us salary is a taboo topic only to help the top get away with unequal pay. base salary should be standardized and bonuses depend on performance (chargeable hours, project reviews, hours charged to internal codes).
2 years ago I decided to chop my salary for WL balance, and it worked - depression became manageable. But losing all that $ and momentum was painful. My current job is in Covid danger, but I’m also in the final rounds to return to double the salary, but double the work. I don’t know, what a shitty choice.
Why does everyone hate indexed annuities? Who would turn down the potential of 12% annual returns with a guarantee that they can't lose any money, all for free and even a bonus?
EY just assured that there won’t be any workforce reduction. Also no performance bonus this year. How do you feel? (Me: I am proud that we always put people first)
How do bonus payouts work if you leave deloitte? its been paid out early September the last two years. Do you have to work until it's paid out or can you leave a week or so early and still get it?
What are the Pracitioner factors that go into your bonus again? Trying to get a guess. Performance, level, promotion year, what else? SC, Not up for promo, $117k, GPS HC
PARTNERS: two questions —1. If you see an associate has really low hours for the month, do you imagine them chillen on a beach somewhere or do you consider they probably spent most of their days sitting in front of the computer being “available”? 2. If you send an associate a random e-mail on a weekend like “Can you pull X and send to Y”, would you get annoyed if they responded saying they weren’t by a comp or would you consider it reasonable that they wouldn’t be by a comp on a weekend?
Anyone have insight into FAANG R&D teams, eg Facebook Reality labs or equivalent? Considering exits from innovation consulting
Dilemma Here: I want to get into Tech MC but don’t think I have the right educational background but if do go get it then I’m not shooting for Tech MC at this firm and will either go for MBB or FAANG
Thoughts on whether Chicago st Patty’s this weekend will be any different with the covid situation?
Long shot, but has anyone from MBB switched to another MBB and had them pay off sponsorship from the original firm?
If it’s hard to find projects in summer cause it’s slow, and Nov-Jan cause it’s slow, then am I supposed to spend half the year on the freaking bench!?
Has anyone managed to later be hired by a firm that initially rejected you after completing all interview rounds? I’m trying to apply elsewhere but realizing I really liked this previous place best.
Feeling blah. Got an offer and turned it down (I wouldn’t have taken), and told this other company that I got an offer, which resulted in the recruiter speeding up my 2nd interview. After the interview, they said that they’d need another interview and to speak to my refs before going forward, and that if I have an offer, they don’t want me to hold me back from taking it. Mind’s kind of in a jumble after this long process. Thoughts from my fellow fish?
My law firm mentioned that they filed my h1b petition under Consular notification. Does that mean I can travel abroad even without having a decision on my H1b? PS- my h1b is not yet approved
Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? That will never happen!!!
Finally watched The Social Dilemma on Netflix. It didn’t say anything that we didn’t already know about social media and big tech, but it’s still alarming and worth the watch. The biggest question I have after watching is why do people still romanticize FAANG? Is just purely the money and prestige? Are we selling our soul for a highly regarded exit opportunity? Just curious.
How common or difficult is it for laterals to get mba sponsored at your firm? Wondering if there are differences among Mbb, t2, Deloitte in this regard Edit: MBA sponsorship!
Interviewing at AWS in non-tech PM role. 4 YOE. Looks like I’d be at L5 but not quite sure. Does anyone know if this sounds right? I was going to ask for a115k BASE (I.e. not including RSU, etc)
Project management certifications worth it? Don't have much experience but interested in taking courses. What's worth taking? CAPM? CSM? Thanks!
Has anyone been successful in negotiating more severance? I’ve been offered a month, but I don’t think I can survive just on it. Only have 2 months saved up.
