For all you retail people...are you experiencing a very slow holiday season? I am a retail manager and I feel like this season has been freakishly slow. Recent lateral junior associate in brand new practice where I'm the only associate. I'm probably going to bill 1,500 hours max this year due to being very slow and taking time off for a delayed honeymoon which I disclosed during my interview process. I have been told my work product is good, I don't turn anything down, I participate in non-billable work, I'm responsive and I always let people know I'm available to help. Do I need to be worried about getting fired for low hours?

Can’t decide on a job offer. Currently employed and have been wanting to do something different. The other job offer is pretty much what I make now but I’d be losing on a lot of PTO. I kind of feel really confused about what to do. The hiring manager actually picked up on the fact that I don’t sound super excited for the job. But I feel like this is my chance to leave and do something different but I’m hung up on barely any PTO and swapping to a complete different industry.

I feel like I can’t get anything done at work lately and the responsibilities are piling up. How do I prevent myself from burning out when if I take a PTO, I just fall further behind. 🤮😭

Just got an email that my bonus would be docked by $50 per day per occurrence for not logging in my time entries to be equal to 7 hours. WTF. I hate this shit. What do you all do when you bill 12 hours one day and 4 hours the next day? No chance in hell I’m logging 3 hours of vacation time for the difference!

I'm a retail employee, and I've noticed that a lot of my colleagues are really stressed out. They're often working long hours, and they don't feel like they can take time off when they need it. I'm worried about my own mental health. Is this what all retail is like?

Curious about non-US attorneys: are you working the crazy hour weeks most of us in the US do? Or are your weeks closer to 40 hours? I hear a lot about the working hour caps, vacation requirements, etc in Europe/Canada. Curious if that flows into legal practice... or if it gets ignored. To clarify—I’m talking about BigLaw. I’m sure there are smaller firms with reasonable hours, the same exists in the US.

How far in advance of taking vacation do you let partners know you’ll be out of office? Is one month before a week long vacation okay?

Likely getting an offer soon - already have planned vacation starting Tuesday until the new year. Do I give notice before I get the written offer/background check so I can leave before holidays but risk offboarding during vacation or give notice my first day back? I got an offer from EY GDS India with 11.5 LPA Fixed and 5% Variable pay. For some of my friends got 10% variable pay. I am at staff level. Senior and above only will get 10% variable pay or even at staff level they will give 10% variable pay?

I am trying to get an ADHD diagnosis, as my primary care and myself both think I could have it (runs in the fam). How many of y’all got diagnosed by a psychiatrist? Or did you have to do the extensive 4ish hour testing?
