Kind of cheesy, but I send my husband a Man Crate every year. He loves them and I think it’s fun that he gets to have something delivered too. He loves snacks so anything food-related is good with him.

Fellow millennial lawyers: tell me, in general terms, 1 or 2 clients you acquired and how you acquired them. I feel like the suggested strategies for developing business are always the same: network, build your brand (hate this phrase), market yourself on LinkedIn, etc. Does any of this work? Seems to me to that most business development comes from long-standing contacts (e.g. your childhood best friend is now CEO and needs legal services), so I’m curious how other attorneys developed business.

Anyone here work in a firm where there are no female partners in your office? I feel like I have a lot of advancement opportunities from at least one partner but there is no clear route to partnership being shared at this point. I have been told it’s because all of the up and coming women in our firm haven’t made it there yet but I’ve only seen one woman become partner in the last few years (in another office) and the rest of the female partners have been laterals…

Recalling my first onboarding meeting in-house with the c - suite. Thinking back now recalling that they would often mention if someone they are referring to is a woman. For example, "Oh we have these two women doing x, y, and z and they do it well, a well-oiled machine." etc. I was the only woman in the room. They did not mention when someone performing a particular role was a man but they did point out when it's a woman, happened about four times. Odd, no? What would you make of this?

Hey ladies. I just had surgery today and I am out on short term disability until further notice. I am most like going to get a once in a life time job offer by a big law firm at the end of the week. I’ve never practiced in a law firm, so this will help me with my career big time. How should I give notice to my in house gig? The petty side of me wants to just tell them I’m not coming back but the business woman in me is saying to leave amicably and try to bring them in as client. ... cont in com

Someone please tell me where in tf I need to drop my Hinge location in the DMV area to find my person. For the married and/engaged ladies, did you have any pre-wedding jitters? I recently got engaged (yay!) and I have felt for a very long time that my partner truly is my soulmate. Had a talk with the partners Thursday, they said I’m not producing enough work at the end of each day. First year associate, new area of law, wfh so they are more “what are you doing every second”. They want me to start turning in a daily log (we are plaintiffs attorneys so no billing normally) any advice? While I appreciate their honesty, I feel like they consider me severely indebted to them that they hired me mid pandemic and “allow” me to work from home.

I am purchasing a home and my boyfriend wants in on the deal as a co-owner. It is only me on the mortgage. We are planning on writing up a co-ownership agreement with a 60%/40% split and yes he will be paying 40% of the mortgage, down payment, and property taxes etc. He wants to be on the title as a tenant in common to reflect that %. Is that fair? I just want to make sure I’m protected but I also understand that if he’s paying all this money, he wants some security as well

Signs I’m getting old: I tripped and fell, and somehow partially tore my ACL. Have to figure out if I want surgery, and how to tell the team—at the very least, I’ll need a ton of PT. I’m a first year associate and the only woman on all of my teams, so I’m freaking out about how this is going to reflect on me. I know I’m overthinking this, health comes first, etc…but I’m still so scared to tell people.
