What’s a good raise? No promotion. Just a normal raise. 5-10%?

Who still gives out “good raises” these days? Seriously curious! Barely getting “normal” raises at a FANG company!

like

I would aim for 10% now a days, with where inflation is headed

like

I was always happy with 10.

I got a 3% raise at FAANG last year. That was some bs.

I win (well lose)…2.5% and my boss told me that was generous 🙄

Less than 5 is sad. More than 10 good.

Sadly I haven't seen anything better than a 3-4% merit increase in my entire 10 year career (tbh it's closer to 2% average), aside from one time where they made "industry benchmark corrections" mid-year to try to stem a mass exodus...if people are getting 5-10%, you my friends are lucky exceptions.

like

3% is a normal cost of living raise. 6-10% is “you’re one of the best performers.” Promotions should be around 15% unless you were near the bottom of your pay band previously.

So everyone is getting at least a 3% raise every year?

I guess 10% without a promotion is another area where creatives in agencies live in an entirely different world than everyone else. The normal band in my department is 3-5%, 6% if management wants to go to extraordinary lengths. Up to 20% with a promotion. In any other industry I've worked in you'd be lucky to get more than 3%.

Which health insurance plan do you recommend for pregnancy and maternity care? Looking for switching during current open enrollment . From the Deloitte sponsored plans, narrowed down to these 3 - Anthem Bluecard PPO, Aetna Select, UHC PPO. I am currently enrolled for Anthem Bluecard PPO and looking for other best options, if any. Also, if I get pregnant in December and switch to any other from Jan, will that works or the new insurance provider might raise a concern to cover the expenses? TIA!

Does anyone know generally how much you should get as a raise per year? I’m in the middle of negotiations with my current company and a new company and my current company says they give raises based around performance and inflation, but information online surrounding my new company discusses low pay and low raises that don’t keep up with it. I’m currently stuck on the option and have to make a decision of where to go by Friday…

Recently switched from big4 to Senior in FP&A (Corporate/Consolidations) at a pretty big real estate company. This career path now seems very unclear with no timeline on promotion and whats next unlike big4 careers. Was wondering if anyone can provide some insights into how to navigate this career (should I go back to Big4 and get some M&A experience from FDD/Valuations/Finance Transformation) or just keep doing FP&A work). End goal would to become a Director or VP in FP&A.

The cost of living calculator said I would need to have a 51% salary increase in order to have the same lifestyle in NYC. I’m currently making ~105k, which means I should make $158k to maintain my standard of living. My standard of living currently is that I’m single, have a one bedroom apartment for $1700/mth + utilities, no pets and no car. I like to cook during the week, and dine out on weekends. Prefer workout classes to a standard gym. Is this CoL accurate?
