This is amazing. I was acd in nyc at 125 and felt lucky to get it. Also I was - and still am - female.
For what it’s worth, I went from 130K as a senior creative to 145k + a 10K year-end bonus. I don’t know how that stacks up though...
Exact same when I was an ACD.
160-180
It was an IPG shop. I was running some clients though so more of a CD role. But it was my first ACD position.
Thanks all. Wow, ACD 1, making 130k as a senior. Is that typical? If so, I’m getting underpaid 20k
I don’t know honestly. The place I went was small but growing rapidly. They also didn’t know what type of creative they needed but were eager to hire someone with a broad set of skills, was client facing, could manage projects and juniors, etc.
But I also knew someone who was “senior copywriter” at 360i a number of years ago who was making something like 150k. But sometimes at bigger agencies the titles/levels/pay scale starts to get wacky at some point.
It varies so much, depending largely on the size of the shop, the extent to which you’ll be client-facing, and if you’re actually managing people or not. It really could be anywhere from 120 to 200. Also depends A LOT on which account they bill for your time. A CW working on the cash cow at a big shop could easily be making more than an ACD at the same shop who is working on less profitable accounts. Just don’t take the first offer. Ever, ever, ever. They always hold some back.
I got $140k in my first ACD job.
$140k is pretty typical for a first-time ACD.
