Companies need a more hands-on and interactive approach; the era of relying solely on your vendor is gone if you value your company and its assets.
We need to look closely at our supply chains and ensure they keep up with security standards; of course, this is a two-way street.
Lead by example, implement controls, deploy an active security awareness campaign and practice good cyber hygiene.

EJ 1, I’ve had the same experience with clients. I called my best clients and let them know I’d be out and made sure they had my cell number.. not only did none of them call me, a few called me the week after to ask how my trip was. I’ll take that as a compliment to me doing things right.
I think it is in our heads. As long as you run a clean business, clients are happy, and you are meeting your annual growth objectives ... I would try hard to relax and enjoy your time away. If you have that feeling with someone, I would ask them directly if it is an issue for them. Then I would try to determine if it is justified.
FA1, i need to do the same thing. I have always had a difficult time taking vacation. I realize that this has not helped me or my practice. I do believe I would be much farther ahead if I had figured this one out years ago.
Just got back from a couple weeks visiting family. I started telling clients in Feb I’d be gone over the 4th for a vacation and they all said I should take more time. I worried about it too but the clients who called while I was gone scheduled for this week because it wasn’t important enough they said to interrupt my vacation. It cleared my head and I don’t feel so bad about taking time going forward
3 months per year..
I think if you aren’t able to be away at least five weeks, you don’t have a sustainable practice.
I think it’s important to take 4-5 weeks throughout the year for vacations. At least 2-3 weeks of which you are completely detached
I hate taking vacation. Always feel like im missing out. FOMO. Need to get over it.
Nyl1, it’s not so much not being able to be away... I always have that scottrade commercial from like 10 years ago in my head, where the broker is on a yacht talking to his client and the client tells him he’s leaving for scottrade and then the voice over talks about paying advisors to do nothing when you can pay $7.95
I also think that you should either: 1) build a business that can run without you; or 2) if you want a smaller, solo practice type that you can run your business from wherever you want to live your life from. e.g. I spend the summers at a vacation home and can run my practice from there.
French vacation model - at least 6 weeks here. If you’re setup properly, shouldn’t be an issue.
