What’s a reasonable/standard all in salary for in-house positions in secondary markets? (Boston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, etc). I recently received an offer and am trying to figure out if it’s typical. For background, I’m a fifth year litigator in biglaw currently.

Congrats on the offer! (I have no idea re salary tho)

Thank you!

Agreed with everything said here. Tech, pharma, finance are the big payors. Most other industries are significantly lower. I just broke 200tc in the Philly area and I’ve been out of school 14 years.

$200+ in a small market outside of tech and other top industries is a really good offer. I make less than that as a 6th year (though looking at a nice raise this year). Despite the “low” pay, I couldn’t be happier in this role. And in a smaller market that pay goes further anyways.

Currently making ~$300K TC in a strategy role. Was just offered a different role (account manager) in the same company with a slight increase in base salary and a 50% TC increase if I hit sales target (even base case would be ~30% increase in TC).

Have never really considered account management / anything with a sales target, but I like money.

Thoughts? Things I should consider?

Have people received inflationary raises? My dad received a letter stating that they’re giving him a 6.5% raise + a one time lump sum of $750 bc of inflation, retroactive to July 1st. He works for a university and is part of a union. Kind of feel like my company is being shady because I work in CRE & we do raises + bonuses in February which was when I was planning to ask for an inflationary raise. But I feel like a lot of companies have done this without having their employees ask?

Received a verbal job offer on Tues. $5k short of what I had said was my desired range but still up from my current salary. We set up a call for Thurs to discuss further. On Wed they sent me all benefits info. Thursday on the call I asked if we could either increase moving stipend or get closer to my desired salary. They said no, and I asked them to send over written offer and I would let them know by Fri. They then email they are no longer offering me the position and repost it the next day:

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

Has anyone lateraled from big law into an in-house role at one of your firm’s clients? I feel like this happens quite a lot and curious how that process went (did you reach out to them, they to you, etc)? I’m in my second year and staffed on a large client & starting to develop a relationship which I’d like to maintain. I’m thinking about hanging in here for another year or two but then starting to look to lateral. Would love to work for this company if a position is available at that time.

After a week of interviews with the team (softball-esq), I was informed that if I wanted to join, they would bring me on at a lower title. I’m not sure about comp yet. But if comp is still an increase + experience at a public..
