I am due to take 2 weeks parental leave sometime in the next month and have an offer lined up. Is it better to tell the new place I would prefer to push my start date to take my leave and join two weeks after (accounting for 2 weeks of notice when I get back)? Would that be burning a bridge with current firm (taking leave and giving notice as soon as I am back)? I want to avoid losing 2 weeks of salary during that time if I can.
Interviewing for a PM role in series A (Canadian) FinTech with 2yoe, they're insisting on a salary range and I can't dodge it anymore What should I ask for (comp/options), considering I mainly want options, but also decent pay so I can exercise those options?
Which offer should I take both in same city EY: 190 Manager with the alright bonus OW: 175 Senior consultant, target bonus 25% but almost always much higher
I know this isn’t exactly an investment question, but when student loans unfreeze, should I pay down a chunk of my high-interest (>7%) loans before refinancing or just go straight for the refinance? Will paying some of them down hell me secure a better rate? Any other tips? For background I have $125k in loans from undergrad and law school but am making biglaw salary Thanks in advance!
Have an offer in industry. It’s a relatively new company that is growing fast and lots of opportunity to move up quickly and make a difference. Salary increase wouldn’t be large but enough to make a difference. My heart wants to do it but there is risk involved - not as much stability as the Big 4 company I work for and I’m supporting a family. What do I do? Follow my passion or stay in the safe zone given things are still up in the air with Covid? I appreciate your opinion fishes!
What does PE investing comp look like in Toronto at the Associate and Sr. associate level? Is $200kcad all in for senior associate in the low end for a MM fund
It’s so hard seeing so many people make so much more money by switching to new firms. I’m making a strategic move that will probably command more comp in 3-5 years than I would have made if I hadn’t made the jump but my salary bump (25%) isn’t nearly what everyone else is getting right now because I’m basically starting over in a new area. I have serious FOMO. I *think* I did the right thing but now I’m all caught up in comparing myself! Could use some words of encouragement or advice, y’all…
Recruiter said 6k relocation bonus - I have to spend $3k and can take the remaining balance. But after signing the letter she corrected herself and said I only get back 50% of the remaining balance. Is there anything I can do about this? The numbers and terms of relocation weren’t on the offer letter.
Thoughts on private equity secondaries? One fund in particular has a mix of traditional secondary LP investments and more structured secondary direct investments. Comp? Lifestyle? Exits?

I work in public accounting, but am soon moving to CA where I will switch from a salary employee to an hourly non-exempt employee (same company/position). I’m not thrilled about it even though others say I should be (duh overtime). It seems restrictive on paper. Can someone explain to me what this change will be like? Are companies serious about break times? Is overtime always approved or even need approval?
I’m applying this year for MBA (Fall 2021 start), but really want to shoot my shot for MBB before that, BCG specifically, because I can’t deal with all the EY BS anymore. Say I was actually able to get an offer, would I be blacklisted from BCG if I left for an MBA 6 months after being hired?
Thoughts on Google RTO office date? Will it be pushed back more than Jan 10 with the holiday season and all? Don’t want to relocate if we will be postponing RTO
So, super weird question: Others often consider me the "smartest person in the room" but I love being challenged and called out when I'm wrong. Is this weird? Is there a term to describe this (other than obnoxious)? Asking here because for some reason in our culture it's super taboo to talk about how smart we are and we're all supposed to pretend we're less intelligent than we are too avoid looking arrogant or making others feel inferior.
Hi fish need some advice. I want to get a job in the finance industry, specifically in quant. I don’t know many people outside of consulting so I’ve been applying blindly without a referral which hasn’t worked. What are some tips to help expand my network?
How does MBB view people who join and stay for just a year? Specialist (non generalist - data science) if it matters. Do they hold it against you? Due to a personal situation I may have to leave but I'm not interested in staying at my current job for another year.
New AWMA... curious to know what a reasonable salary expectation is and what the growth looks like for an associate within a growing ensemble. For context, background is more analytical, taking CAIA level 2 in a couple weeks, then plan on pursuing CFA.

I am so happy to not be grinding out 1065s, K1s, or 1120- RICs anymore . This role I’m talking to cpa firms about outsourcing work, tax software companies, mapping data, educating client representatives about tax issues, I’m making 30% more , less hours. Someone change my mind here with work being outsourced to India and automated - is the accounting profession about to change ? Especially public accounting ? I hated getting back some review points on returns .
Currently a C with 2.5 YOE in PMO. Came in at the lower salary range and looking to take advantage of a hot market. Any companies hiring in Federal space?
