Hi Fishes, I am bit confused to pick the role in KPMG lighthouse as Sr Cloud Data architect or Saama technology as a Project lead. Money wise it is not a big difference. In KPMG I will work with partner where as in saama I will work with project/program manager. Please suggest your opinion. Saama KPMG KPMG India

Wear a suit and tie. For one, you’ll make a good impression, and also you’ll get yourself in the right headspace.
Never wear a tie without a jacket; it makes you look like you sell phones at the mall.

Windsor knots are for cads. Gentlemen use the four-in-hand.
Full suit. Pretend it’s in person
Dress suit on the top, birthday suit on the bottom.
Really? People are wearing full suits for zoom interviews??! What levels are we talking about here?!? This seems so overkill - we are at home for Christ sake. Thinking a nice dress shirt will be perfectly fine. Heck, my interviews are dressed super casual. I think it would have been odd if I showed up with a full suit if they were dressed in just regular dress shirts
I’m a female and I just wore a blouse or shell, no blazer. We’re in a pandemic and it’s summer and I have a window unit AC. I’d rather be “underedressed” than sweating bullets.
I did full suit, no tie, for my consulting interviews and it seemed appropriate
Does jacket also apply for interviews with tech companies?
I think you’re supposed to wear a t shirt for those. Preferably an 80s rock band
Tuxedo
Thank you, SM2! Finally the voice of reason.
I had a director showed up to my virtual interview at fannie mae with a white wrinkled undershirt. Then started texting as i was answering his very first question. I didn’t care as I was only interviewing to practice my skills for better firms but i wanted to call
him out on so bad.
PD1 - nailed it
I did suit no tie
As someone doing the interviewing- I am definitely not dressing up a lot, but I will have on a nice blouse or top. I do react more favorably to someone who takes it up a notch above me. So adding a jacket to a nice collared shirt would convey to me that you really care about this and that you actually would know how to dress in front of a client. Adding a tie would up that impression a bit, but reviewing my unconscious judgments, skipping the tie would not hurt you. And similar to the A1 comment, I had an interviewee actually apologize for not wearing a jacket recently, saying her A/C was not working well. I appreciated her saying that because it showed that she was aware of professional norms and would be able to dress appropriately for the clients. I did not really need the apology but the context probably helped my impression of her.
