Weightlifting has been by far the most effective I found. Plus it makes you feel like a badass. For an hourglass shape you’ll want to build up your chest/shoulders and also your butt, without doing too much core work that your core gets thick. If you do cardio you’ll lose weight but just will become a smaller version of your current shape so you really need strength training to “mold” your body

In terms of hours in, results out, strength training and proper diet is 100% the answer and there’s not even a question about that. For the short period I was skinny and ripped, it was from that.
That said, I like boot camp and cardio and dance and Pilates and running outside and eating bread and drinking wine so now I just do that 😂 I’m a lot squishier but happy and healthy 😁
Strength training, is going to “sculpt” your body the most. I used to be a cardio bunny and run every day. When I started lifting I noticed a difference in my body and so did other people.
The best exercise is one you enjoy, because then you will do it more frequently and push yourself to go harder. Either of your options will work if you challenges yourself.
It can be easy to be lazy in Pilates, which means you don’t get the benefits - but if you look at Pilates instructors / people who really challenge themselves, they look AMAZING. Pilates helped me get my stomach toned again after childbirth.
Personally I prefer HIIT and body weight training and it definitely has helped me get a lot more toned. I love the challenge and the exhaustion. But you need to find what’s right for you.
I do tons of barre. I can’t do any cardio because I have herniated discs in my neck.
But anyway I’m very toned and lean from a healthy diet and barre alone. I think trying to eat clean but not counting calories has worked for me in the long term
To truly change your body is a combo of Nutrition and Strength Training. Nutrition doesn’t mean starving yourself, it’s eating the right ratio of nutrients (carbs/protein/fat)- each person has different targets. Proper Strength training (weight lifting) - go to a Bootcamp or get a trainer for a couple sessions to start you off properly

Combo but you get an hourglass by working the quads and side of your booty and shoulders without working out your obliques. It’s a question of which muscles for strengthening and which to not grow
Pole dance 🤗
Cardio + strength training + motivates you to stretch + feel good about your body
I have done barre regularly for 3 years. I’m obviously a huge fan and can keep very toned with just barre and a healthy diet. I have also supplemented it with Megaformer Pilates, cycle, and running throughout. I loved the challenge of Megaformer but it’s ~$300/month and I just can’t do that. My current routine is cycle 1x week, barre 3x week, and run 2x week and that works well! I’m usually happiest with my body if I add the cycle and running but also don’t beat myself up if just barre and long walks happen.
