It’s mostly by penn station (east of 9th). 10th is lovely and I’m right across Hudson yards mall
Nomad/Ktown is grimy and has no character. It’s a bunch of vape shops and like bead wholesalers. Only plus is the Korean food and the Ace and Nomad hotels and I guess the subways. I’d go with 27th and 10th. You’re just north of all the incredible Chelsea galleries, you’ve got the park on the water plus charming businesses and restaurants on 9th and 10th ave. And the streets are lined with pretty townhouses. It’s a no brainer. Just Google map it to see for yourself. Both are safe.

Thanks Celine. I have done extensive research via Google Street view and YouTube walking tour videos in those areas. Just wanted opinion from the folks in the trenches now. 31 and 5 is also just a few blocks north of flatiron which seems very pleasant. It seems to have more dining options than west Chelsea. But west Chelsea is right next high line and Hudson River park. Great for running and cycling , won’t be able to do that in ktown area.
West Chelsea.
More neighborhoody, galleries, etc.

Ktown if you are a female worried about traveling alone. Have two friends who left Chelsea during the pandemic because it felt unsafe. Lots of homeless roaming around. I and another friend moved to ktown area - a couple blocks south. It feels safer because the outdoor dining always has people around. If you won’t be traveling late on your own I think Chelsea is okay but I prefer the crowds after witnessing things quiet down (stuck throughout the entire pandemic). Hopefully things pick up again now that things are opening but I don’t mind being in the center of action/close to a lot of subway lines

One was at 15th and 7th, another 15th and 8th, and a third 26th and 8th. One is still there and the other two moved out of the neighborhood
