What’s better, no running water at home from 9 to 5 or working from the office? (Mask, slight covid risk, etc.) My plan is to go to the office but maybe I’m overestimating how painful no running water might be

Like, toilets won’t flush either? Thats a real problem. No potable water is pretty easy - you fill up pitchers for drinking and a big pan or bathtub for hand washing water at the beginning of the day.

like

Toilet you could “fill” manually with a pitcher but it’s far from awesome

Not painful if you have water for all the needs. If you have pitchers to hold a few gallons it’s not an issue. Flushing toilet only on number 2. Bottled water or drinks.

Fill up a pot or three with water. If you’re building is telling you they’re going to shut it between 9-5 then they’re just covering their ass, no plumber is going to be working for that long, 2-3 hours tops on your line. It’ll be fine

like

Home maybe more comfortable? Make sure you’re prepared with bottled water, pre-cooked meals and extra water in bucket to flush the toilet before home...and maybe take a shower in the morning before the 9am cutoff

This happened to me during quarantine. It’s not a big deal if you don’t have kids. I just filled up some jugs of water to flush the toilet and have plenty of drinking water. They also only worked until like 3 pm or so, so it wasn’t a problem really. Now if they work multiple days and I don’t have water, I would go to the office. But this was early in the quarantine so that wasn’t an option for me.

like

Can you work outside, like out of a cafe for at least part of the day?

It would be a bit complicated but doable. That said, I live a short walk from the office so might as well go there for a while instead

It’s not that crazy, fill up a pitcher of water before 9am and plan your meals/snacks so you don’t need running water during the day. I would definitely stay home

Our district does not give sick days if a teacher has Covid so if a teacher tests positive, that teacher must use his or her own sick days. If a teacher gets Covid or tests positive, 10+ sick days are gone because of district policy. Some teachers have lost 20-30 days because they tested positive 2-3 times even though they have no symptoms. Because of this, some teachers have stated they will not test and will just come to school unless their symptoms are too severe.

If the government really wanted to end Covid they should’ve given contracts to popular US clothing brands like: Nike, Under Armor, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfinger, Calvin Klein, The North Face, etc. Point being, if these brands designed their own masks in bulk people would be more inclined to wear “their favorite brand” opposed to a surgical mask or no mask at all.

WHY are we so nasty and vindictive to each other? Got an entire 30 day block from Blacks In Tech for pointing out that a conversation about the COVID-19 vax did not begin from a respectful place. IMO starting a respectful convo on that topic means inviting people to share their “reasons”. This person started the discussion from the angle that Black people have “misconceptions” - which plays into the narrative that we are too dumb to evaluate the info and land on a decision which is right for us.
