The 10% redundancies at the start of covid was a poor business decision and heartless. The way it was handled was poor and led to significant talent opting to take the buy out package or otherwise leaving out of frustration.
UKI leadership is fickle and often overreacts. If you're in the US, stay there. At least the pay will be better. The political scene and general tenor of the UK is getting very close to the toxicity of the US, so one is not better than the other in that regard.
Agree. Do you feel leadership has learnt a lesson post this fiasco? Almost every single discussion I've had with my SMs, everyone shared similar concerns.

How do you think with recession fears looming?

FS in Accenture is worst hit in any slowdown. I have personally seen all my colleagues sitting idle for months together wondering about their future during covid and I would never want to be in that position. Remember, US seem to harbinger of worldwide recession always and I'm guessing you're based there so you're probably in a better position to judge than folks in UK. I have always felt, London being the financial capital, is always worst hit in the world in terms of job cuts.
The good part is FS also brings loads of revenue for ACN so as long as you're an average performer, you can expect some level of job security. Also, ACN is doing really really well revenue wise, only getting stronger and stronger but with experience I can say it has no direct bearing on decision to layoff. We were forced to let go 10% staff during 2020 just on the pretense of reducing redundancy and it wasn't motivated by any financial reasons. Our leadership sometimes suffer FOMO of not laying off someone during worldwide layoffs and that is a scary precedent. SMs are the first in line to let go in any such situation based on my past observation.
Overall, just trying to put facts across. Hope this helps you make a calculated decision. If you can delay moving by a year, you'd probably be better off.
I joined in 2008 during the height of the financial crisis, the crisis for us was short term only, we had more work than ever in FS from mid-2009 for around a 8 years. You always need good people across all levels of the pyramid for when things begin to pick up. When they pick up, it’ll be super fast growth, so hence why I’m asking.
