What's everyone's opinion on getting rid of Columbus Day as a national holiday? (thoughtful posts only please ☺️)

I'm a retail employee, and I've noticed that a lot of my colleagues are really stressed out. They're often working long hours, and they don't feel like they can take time off when they need it. I'm worried about my own mental health. Is this what all retail is like?

Is it reasonable to ask for three weeks before joining a new company? I was thinking a two week notice and a week vacation to take a breath. What do you think ?

Has anyone successfully negotiated PTO? How did it go and how did you ask?

So i work at this company in coimbatore (india) and we have a very poor work life balance. We have a 6 day working policy and no vacation or sick leaves just 1 day casual leave a month. We usualy had to work around 10 to 12 hrs and no leaves even during govt holidays. How can i make them understand this is killing our personal life. I have already shared a couple of emails to hr and CFO of our company to no avail. Please advice on what should I do next

I’m currently at a boutique agency where it’s just me and my boss doing RM for about 200+ people. I have been there for almost a year and have implemented some new processes that are starting to help streamline the process. I currently make $85K. Is this an appropriate salary for my level? I am being approached for RM roles at consulting firms and other agencies. I like the idea of building something here but would also like better benefits (more vacation, better mat leave).

Considering a move to NTT Data in a healthcare consulting role. Mixed reviews in the bowls. Major concerns are bench policy, staff aug roles, 2 week PTO, and high turnover due to job dissatisfaction. Recruiter and mgr had great things to say around growth and opportunity, which doesn’t align with feedback from the bowls or Glassdoor.

Unable to decide to leave my current company. They are actively blocking my growth and I got an offer for a title promotion, but a significant pay cut. The new job offers $100k, 26 days pto, hybrid 2/3 remote, 37.5 hours a week. My current job (7yrs) offers $102k, 42 days pto, office optional 35 hrs a week. With the new job being in CT, the increase in taxes, 3x increase in insurance premium, and travel to and from, I am looking at $700 a month pay cut. Is career advancement worth $700 a month?

Setting up a new solo firm in a coworking space. My own office, but shared receptionist, all utilities included, live answering service, conference rooms to reserve for bigger meetings, etc. It's a big change from the very large office I've been working in. Anyone else in a coworking space? Did you receive any pushback or negative feedback from clients? I'm an estate attorney. Seems like the perfect time to downside and modernize with the changes we've seen during the pandemic.
